#Tech Town Hall at Loblaw Digital was [positively] different! ✅ increased attendance & engagement (colleagues actively participated!) ✅ meaningful insights for our teams (transparency, education, celebration!) ✅ healthy competition (who would have guessed 😉) Rather than a traditional approach, we switched things up - we ran an online game (with prizes, obviously) for the entirety of the town hall that aimed to promote team achievements, education of what had been built, and a future-forward look at what's next! Try new things. Not everything has to be done the 'same ol' way'; sometimes the results will surprise you! Interested in joining our next #technology town hall - we're #hiring across #development & #engineering teams. https://lnkd.in/gRH-YQQx

Career growth isn’t always a straight path—it’s full of twists, turns, and unexpected detours. At the start of 2024, I encountered a career pivot when my role at an AdTech startup came to an end. It wasn’t easy, but in a challenging job market, I was fortunate to land a role at Aldi, which opened up an entirely new chapter for me. Joining Aldi gave me the opportunity to step outside the world of marketing analytics and AdTech and dive into the dynamic world of retail. Working with such a resilient brand has been incredibly rewarding. I’ve gained hands-on experience in the commercial side of the business and used in-house analytics to help drive growth and innovation. 2024 has been full of lessons, some tough, some transformative, that I’m excited to carry into the next chapter. Sometimes, moving forward means pausing, reflecting, and re-strategizing before charging ahead with fresh purpose. Here’s to embracing change and new beginnings in 2025! #CareerJourney #GrowthMindset #RetailAnalytics #MarketingAnalytics #Adtech

Richard Mayorga MS-IE MBA got me thinking today... "That's the way we've always done it" – a phrase that's haunted me throughout my career. It's the sound of stagnation, the death bell of innovation. Look at what happened to retail giants like Kmart. Once symbols of success, they clung to outdated models while the world embraced the internet. Now they're fading memories. This got me thinking: Am I clinging to the familiar? Am I limiting myself by only considering the "usual" paths? It's time for a change, a new chapter. I'm opening my eyes to industries I never thought I'd explore. Who knows, maybe my true passion lies in a field I haven't even discovered yet! This isn't just about a job; it's about embracing the unknown, taking a chance on something new, and constantly evolving. Who's with me? #OpenToNewOpportunities #LifelongLearning #CareerChange #Innovation

Exciting news! Today, Walmart was named one of Fast Company’s “Best Workplaces for Innovators” and one of Fortune’s “Best Companies in Retail.” When I think about innovation, of course I think of our Global Tech team and the great work they do with technology, but I especially think about the high-tech Supply Chain facilities I visited in Texas a few weeks ago. There, we’re using innovative technology to make jobs less physically demanding so associates across the country have a better work experience -- associates like Kevin "KC" Hunt. And when I think about being one of the best companies in retail, the answer is simple – it’s all about the associates at the heart of our business. So excited for Walmart to be on both these lists! #TeamWalmart #PeopleLedTechPowered View the Fast Company “Best Workplaces for Innovators” list here: https://lnkd.in/g3KaBqwK View the Fortune “Best Companies in Retail” list here: https://lnkd.in/g-Yp_UkJ

We all have those pivotal moments in our careers that push us to grow, and as I reflect on my time with Ocado Technology, I'd like to share a bit of my journey. I hope that some of my experiences resonate with others navigating their paths in #tech and beyond. I've been with Ocado for five years, which means I've earned my bonus holiday! Whoop! 😄 Looking back to that hot summer when I applied, I still remember the excitement I felt reading through the brief for the practical skills test. It was a real chance to show what I could do as a Service/UX Designer, proposing a solution to a problem, and demonstrating my creativity, process and thinking. Even though I had to squeeze a lot of work into one weekend while working full-time, I enjoyed the challenge so much that I didn't mind. Once I landed the role, the learning curve was steep. Like with any new job, it took time to get in sync, but within six months, I was already stepping up into a Team Lead position! 👀 Looking back, one thing I wish I had known earlier is just how much potential exists across Ocado Group - the community, the diverse skills, and how much we can support each other in our #careers. I think partly, this was due to the lockdown, which kept us all working from home for a year, and partly by my driven nature. Being a woman in a male-dominated environment, I initially found it hard to ask for help, fearing it might show vulnerability. But over time, I learned that leaning into the collective strength of my colleagues wasn't a weakness - it was the key to my growth. Once I embraced this perspective, my career and relationships evolved in ways I hadn't expected. That sense of support and shared purpose is what keeps me motivated every day. I think about our mission at #CodeforLife and the strong network I've built within Ocado, especially among the #WomeninTechnology community. The women have been a pillar of strength, empowering me to speak up and contribute to what we can achieve together as a company. This job has always kept me on my toes. The industry is fast-paced, and we are continuously changing and improving the way we work. We don't hold onto anything that doesn't bring value or slows us down. In Code for Life itself, we have the opportunity to innovate and test even faster, as we are a small initiative, with a small team. This environment fosters continuous learning and excitement, allowing us to be bold and explore hypotheses effectively. I hope that by sharing my experiences, others might see the value of embracing growth - not just in #skills, but in building connections with others. Especially in environments where diversity and equality can still be a challenge, progress often comes from learning, adapting, and leaning on each other. ❤️ How about you? I'd love to hear about the moments in your career that have pushed you to grow the most!
