This month, we ask our team at Aldrich & Co about the essential qualities of being a recruiter. We always aspire to be as helpful and responsive as we can for our incredible clients and candidates. And as Sue Wildman says, it is so important to stay resilient. Recruiters must find and deliver top candidates at record times, and this often means working long hours and applying our hard-earned skills of interpreting what the client wants in the form of the perfect candidate. Who do you agree with in our carousel? Let us know in the comments 😊 #LondonRecruiter #LondonJobs #FinanceRecruitment

Managing Partner @ Tiello II Building Teams for Tomorrow in the AEC Industry 🏗 I help Recruiters Bill More and Earn More 🚀
In recruitment, the beginning is the hardest. You’ll be pushed out of your comfort zone and fall on your face many times. You’ll face obstacles you’ve never faced. And when you think you’ve figured it out. You’ll face an even harder obstacle.. But this time, you’ll be more equipped to face it. Because you’ll have more resources backing you up. And that's experience and time. Because in the beginning, you had none. So falling on your face and being pushed out of your comfort zone for extended periods is the price of getting skin in the game. Pay the fee. 🎙️I Place Senior Ex Management Consultants Into Amazing Corporate Opportunities /Co-Founder of Future State Consulting & Oaktree Talent Group / Host of the "Strategy Bites" Podcast🎙️
One of our clients recently commented that Future State Consulting, our interim management consulting business, specialises in "Guns for Hire"! I had to reflect on that term. The phrase might sound a bit edgy, but I concluded it’s anything but an insult. In fact, in our line of work, we proudly refer to our top management consulting candidates as "guns." You will often here on of the consultants come out of an interview saying "now they are an absolute gun!" These are the professionals who don’t just shine on paper—they're powerhouses in person, radiating executive presence that turns heads and drives results. So, what makes a "gun for hire" so valuable? 🔫 Immediate Impact: These experts don’t need hand-holding—they dive right in and start delivering results from day one. Whether it's turning around a project, leading a team, or filling a critical gap, they make things happen fast. 🔫 Fresh Eyes, Fresh Ideas: Guns for Hire bring an outsider's perspective that’s invaluable. They challenge the status quo, introduce innovative approaches, and often uncover solutions that others might miss. 🔫 Cost-Effective Expertise: Why only commit to a long-term hire when you can bring in specialised talent on a project basis? Guns for hire offer the best of both worlds—high-caliber skills without the long-term overhead. 🔫 Flexibility and Agility: Need a top consultant for a few months? A specific project? Or just to navigate a critical period? Guns for hire provide the flexibility to scale your team up or down, exactly when you need it. But here’s the kicker—being a "gun" isn’t just about ticking boxes on a resume. It’s about the complete package: someone who has the chops to back up their credentials with real-world results, the charisma to engage internal stakeholders, and the adaptability to thrive in any environment. So, whether you embrace the term or not, remember this: a "gun for hire" is your go-to problem solver, your secret weapon, and the one who’s going to get the job done right. #StrategyJobs #ManagementConsulting #TopInterimTalent

Building products that create impact and delight • Seeking product design leadership or IC roles in NYC or SF
I'd like to understand why a recruiter - who could help with feedback on a resume, connections, or sharing hiring trends at a company - is telling someone 'you should change your personal appearance and dye your hair if you want to find work'. It's also similar to saying 'don't share dates on your resume'. And I am over it and having to lie and pretend I'm something that I'm not. Why is inauthenticity and faking who you are more desirable than wrinkles or grey hair? I had some great early career experiences that helped me become a better designer and consultant, including proudly working in government, working on an early version of the Tesla Web site, and managing a vendor as we delivered both a booth and Web site for a client at Mobile World Congress, the largest mobile conference in the world. These were moments that mattered to me, but because they're 'old' they are seen as 'evidence of being old'. I have to hide them on a resume but don't understand why I can't share what I'm proud of, or hide ANY part of my identity. I'm neurodivergent, an immigrant, queer and have a career history - a long one now. I've come to accept who I am after a long journey of not accepting and hiding. I'm not ashamed of any parts of me, and if you're a company that doesn't want to hire people because we're seen as 'old', and if your recruiter is part of that system of ageism, then it's time to unpack your biases. When do the systems of oppression change? Where are companies that don't ask about our grey hairs? Where is that level of respect?
A recruiter just suggested I dye my grey, who am I kidding, white beard, black. Apparently, this will make me more hireable.
