5 million kilometers Volvo I’m a fan of Volvo Cars. And for me, the Volvo P1800 is one of the most elegant models that ever existed. But it's not all that is necessary to know about this car 🤨 One impressive fact is… ⬇️ 🚗 A red 1966 Volvo P1800S is the Guinness world record holder for highest vehicle mileage for non-commercial use 🏆 The single owner of that amazing car was Irvin Gordon, a former schoolteacher from Long Island, NY. His Volvo reached 3.2 million miles (or 5.1 million km) by the time of Irvin's death in 2018. The auto had a genuine engine (after two rebuilds), chassis, transmission, and even a radio. Driving this car, Irvin traveled not only to the USA, Canada and Mexico, but also visited many European countries such as the Netherlands, Germany, and Sweden 🌎 Nevertheless, Irvin Gordon said: “I never had a goal to get to one million, to two million. I just enjoyed driving and experiencing life through my Volvo.” If it is not the best advertisement for a car brand, then what is? Thanks Hans Hedberg! Your regular publications about Volvo heritage inspired me to write this post ✨ #marketing #advertising #automotive #Volvo #volvocars #volvocarsheritage #volvoheritage #drivesafely #volvoad #volvoforlife #volvomoment
5.1M km for 52 years?😳 Almost 100k km per year?😳… every year… Wow, that guy was really tough (and the car as well)
Wow, that's what we call long term more durable sustainable than today. If only we'd keep our cars that long, instead of changing every few years. New cars wouldn't last that long as they are over-engineered. What amazed me is only 2 rebuilds, meaning it's the original engine, not even a swap. Today, we'd swap the engine in the 200k kms mark 🤣 My car is now 16 years. She reached the 300k kms, she has a long life, travelled from Ireland to North Poland to the Syrian border. I hope to keep it to the 500k mark. Love your post Aleksandra Lesneva ❤️
