Use different colours for easy organisation! 3. Track Your Luggage: In case your luggage goes astray, we recommend using Apple Airtags or Smart Tags. These devices help you track your suitcase using their apps. (Please check airline policies regarding GPS devices in luggage.) 4. Add Dryer Sheets: Tumble dryer sheets in your suitcase keep everything smelling fresh. Once unpacked, add them to your laundry bag. 5. Collect Toiletries After Security: Save weight by collecting toiletries, nappies, or baby milk from Boots after security. Order online using their click-and-collect service up to 14 days before departure and at least 3 days before you fly. Perfect for hand luggage only! 6. Maximise Space: Fill shoes and sunhats with small items to maximise space and help maintain their shape during transit. 7. Plan Ahead: We love shoes too, but do we really need seven pairs? Coordinating outfits in advance helps decide what to take and what to leave behind. 8. Check Your Luggage Weight: Purchase low cost luggage scales to check your suitcase weight before the stress of airport scales and having to excess baggage fees 9. Maybe you and your partner can even relish in a glass of wine or hot coffee on the plane—who knew this was possible flying with a toddler! PREPARATION Using a prep book such as Going On An Airplane by the brand ReadySetPrep by Amy Garza Pittman is a great way to introduce your child to airports and flying. You can also use shows like Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood and Going On An Airplane if your child learns better from visual animation. TIMING If possible, take a flight around your child's nap. Napping on a plane can allow everyone to relax. Be mindful that the hour or two before your flight will be less stressful during their awake time since you will be navigating through the airport and security. BOOK A WINDOW SEAT Toddler alert: The aisle is not toddler-friendly, as it poses a risk of pinched fingers with the food cart. A window seat can offer distractions with a view. BRING A STROLLER Opt to bring a smaller stroller, like a UPPAbaby lightweight stroller. You can check your stroller right at the gate (no extra charge!). It’s even ready for you right when you come off the plane. It’s literally like a stroller valet. The stroller can double as a place to store your bags, so you aren’t lugging a toddler plus bags. AIR PRESSURE SOLUTIONS You can do many things to minimize air pressure for your kiddo. Have them drink milk or water during takeoff and landing. Note that the descent is the most bothersome time for ear pressure. Swallowing can assist in alleviating air pressure, and the liquid helps with travel dehydration. Our ENT recommends the product earPlanes. This ear plug is meant for small ears and is designed to relieve air pressure discomfort and loud noises. AIRPLANE FRIENDLY TOYS -Gel Window Clings – hopefully, you can score a window seat. -Headphones + iPad – make sure they are volume-limiting kids’ headphones like Belkin toddler headphones. -Melissa & Doug Water Wow coloring books PACK A LITTLE EXTRA We LOVE the Dagne Dover diaper bag.
