idOS closes Consortium Funding Round led by Fabric Ventures, including The Arbitrum Foundation, Circle Ventures, NEAR Protocol, Ripple, Gnosis , Radix, Tezos, and others! As a core building partner, Aleph Zero is excited to supply zero-knowledge solutions to idOS’s identity stack to make privacy-enhanced verifiable credentials possible. idOS and consortium partners aim to open up DeFi to real-world use cases with OpenFi: Programmable Money for Everyday Use. The initiative’s premiere happens today in Brussels during EthCC. Over 3,000 credentials have already been issued on idOS, and providers like Instapass and Netki are integrating their verification solutions. These credentials can be encrypted, stored in idOS profiles, and reused across different applications. idOS’s ability to store verifiable credentials, unlike direct on-chain attestations, allows it to be used by entities needing to retrieve actual data. It supports data privacy applications by enabling zero-knowledge proofs and selective disclosure through the upcoming Aleph Zero’s zkOS and ZK-ID. While OpenFi is a primary focus, idOS also enables individuals to manage data privately and organizations to use it efficiently and compliantly. So far use cases such as decentralized CRMs, content authentication, Sybil-resistant voting, or portable social/professional profiles were not possible in the web3 space. Aleph Zero and idOS are changing that. Read more in the announcement by idOS.
Announcing our $4.5m round led by Fabric Ventures, and including leading web3 ecosystems and organizations The Arbitrum Foundation, Circle Ventures, RippleX, NEAR Foundation, Gnosis , Aleph Zero, RADIX DLT and the Tezos Foundation. This round also marks the creation of the idOS Consortium—a collaborative initiative among leading web3 ecosystems and organizations. The Consortium aims to develop the identity layer of web3 and promote the adoption of decentralized identity throughout the web3 space. idOS is a decentralized data storage and access management protocol. It enables ecosystems to provide an identity layer for dApps to solve compliant user onboarding and significantly reduce friction. For users, idOS provides control over their data and the ability to decide with whom they share it. A cross-chain, composable and compliant identity layer is a crucial element for web3 to achieve mainstream adoption. Our goal is to bring DeFi into the real world by enabling everyday use cases that leverage decentralized, permissionless, and more efficient web3 infrastructure. We call this OpenFi. To make this a reality, we are working together with our Consortium Partners and teams such as Safe, Celo, Fractal ID, Kwil, Monerium, Mento, Outlier Ventures, GnosisPay, Zeal and many others. Monolithic identity systems and closed standards have been major obstacles to the adoption of decentralized identity. This is a call for all identity builders, ecosystems and OpenFi infrastructure providers and dApps to join us in our mission. Let's come together to finally build an open identity system the way it is supposed to be! Read the full announcement blog here: https://lnkd.in/d9dhCysG
