Lawmakers in New York have introduced SB 6929 and AB 6832 which would increase the threshold for preauthorization to $1,500 (currently $1,000) for certain medical care including: ▶ specialist consultations ▶ surgical operations ▶ physiotherapeutic / occupational therapy procedures ▶ x-rays ▶ special diagnostic lab tests SB 6929 also has language clarifying that the list of pre-authorized procedures shall be issued and maintained solely for the purpose of expediting authorization of treatment of injured workers and not be used as a basis for denying treatment. The bill also allows non-network providers of testing to be compensated at the provider network rate negotiated by the carrier. ***What Does It Mean For You?*** ▶ There is likely to be a continued push from providers on pre-auth requirements ▶ Use technology to approve the right care quickly ▶ When care doesn't meet guidelines, let physician reviewers make the right call #workerscompensation #utilizationmanagement

Growing Urgent Care & Occupational Medicine Practices Since 1999 | Expert in Practice Expansion and Lead Generation
Have you optimized your Google Business Profile? One of the most important things you can do is to select the right categories. Only your primary category will be displayed to users, but you can add additional categories that will help drive relevant searches. If you are exclusively or primarily an occupational medicine practice, your primary category should be "Occupational health service". Additional categories that we often use include: -Medical clinic -Occupational medical physician -Occupational safety and health If you are an urgent care clinic or another specialty that offers occ med as an additional service, then your primary category should reflect your main focus, with the occ med categories above used as your additional options. #occupationalhealth #googlebusinessprofile #urgentcare #occmedgrowth #urgentcaremarketing

So I took this photograph about 2 years ago when I delved into the practice of #occupationalhealthmedicine with the aim of finding a niche in a place where many doctors have not really found interest in our environment. It is almost becoming a norm for doctors to sit in hospitals and clinics attending to patients as against managing a population by policies, procedures and protocols. First challenging but over time, I stabilized and it has been a home for me in the mean time. My discoveries? Mind blowing. I also saw that there are a whole lot that we are yet to do as medical practitioners in this field. Have you experienced occupational healthcare practice? What was it like? Do you think more doctors need to switch towards identifying what they can offer in this field? Where can we start? #occupationalhealthmedicine #Emergencymedicine #Preventivemedicine #HealthSafetyandenvironment
