During my 21 years as a military intelligence professional in the US Army, I found that a common element in all my assignments was the extensive amount of reading and research required to thoroughly understand the operational environment of my unit—a process known in the intel industry as Intelligence Preparation of the Operational Environment. Intel analysts must sift through thousands of reports from various sources, transforming information into intelligence to provide decision-makers with accurate analytical assessments of potential threats. KISS. The single most impactfull military abbreviation. "Keep it Simple Stupid" In tech industry, we often talk about AI/ML, IAM, GPUs, VM's, Kubernetes, and so on. However, for 95% of military personnel, these terms are meaningless. So why do we keep using them? The ultimate business of military organizations is the conduct of military operations. This translates to achieving operational effects on the battlefield. It means bringing resources—intelligence, people, and material—together at a specific point in time and place to create a desired effect. At the center of this is the soldier, pilot, sailor, commander. They need accurate information and the best tools to get the job done. And this all boils down to one critical element: #data. To benefit from real-time, accurate, and correlated data, a secure, reliable, and resilient infrastructure with user-friendly and robust tools is essential. This is where companies like Oracle step in, providing the technology and infrastructure needed to ensure that military personnel have the data they need, when and where they need it. GEN George, US Army Chief of Staff, recently stated the Army will reduce time spent on vehicle maintenance across the force with “modest changes” to maintenance intervals in the service’s fleet of vehicles. The saved hours will give Soldiers more time to train and spend with families. In the wake of a new $480 million contract award, U.S. military combatant commands are about to get expanded access to data integration and artificial intelligence tools to aid battlespace awareness and targeting. Wednesday evening the Pentagon announced that Palantir landed a deal for its Maven Smart System led by the Army. On Thursday, company executives said the effort will significantly grow the user base and help the department’s Chief Digital and AI Office proliferate the technology to warfighters and pursue its vision for Combined Joint All-Domain Command and Control (CJADC2), which aims to better connect the platforms, sensors and data streams of the U.S. military and key international partners to improve decision-making, operational effectiveness and efficiency. https://hubs.li/Q02z6dHy0
