Characteristics of a State: An ideal state should have the following characteristics: 1. Sovereignty: The state should be sovereign in its internal and external affairs, meaning its decisions are free from external pressure. 2. Rule of Law: There should be supremacy of law, and every citizen must be subject to the law, whether an ordinary individual or a government official. 3. Judicial and Justice System: A fair and independent judicial system that provides equal justice to all citizens. 4. Citizen Rights and Duties: All citizens should be guaranteed fundamental rights like freedom, education, health, and employment, and they should also fulfill their responsibilities by adhering to the state's laws. 5. National Unity and Solidarity: The state should promote national unity, where people of different ethnicities, religions, and cultures live in harmony and mutual respect. Role of the Judiciary: The judiciary plays a crucial role in the well-being of the state, and its role should include the following: 1. Independent and Impartial Judiciary: The judiciary should be independent and impartial to ensure justice without any political or financial pressure. 2. Protection of the Constitution: The judiciary should act as the guardian of the constitution, preventing violations of constitutional rights. 3. Protection of Human Rights: The judiciary's primary role is to protect the fundamental rights of citizens and to take strict action against any violations. 4. Interpretation of Law: The judiciary should interpret laws and clarify what actions are constitutional or lawful and what are not. 5. Oversight of Government Powers: The judiciary should monitor government actions to ensure they are within constitutional boundaries. Politics: Politics is the art of governance and decision-making to solve public issues. In a good society, politics should operate on the following principles: 1. Spirit of Public Service: Politicians should prioritize public service over personal interests. 2. Adherence to Law: Politics must conform to the law, avoiding illegal activities or the misuse of authority. 3. Transparency and Accountability: Politics should be transparent so that the public knows the basis of decisions, and politicians should be accountable for their actions. 4. Democracy: Politics should be based on democratic principles, where the public has the right to elect their representatives and express their opinions. 5. Tolerance and Respect: Politics should embrace tolerance for differing opinions, respecting individuals with diverse viewpoints. Had a great chat with Marko Perožić on Bloomberg Adria regarding a relevant topic I am immensely passionate about. Guiding organisations from intelligence to a state of enhanced resilience has never been more important.
