At some point in your career you might encounter challenges in your workplaces that can sometimes feel daunting and unfair. I spent a huge amount of my early career stressed and unhealthy. It's crucial to address not only the conflicts we encounter but also to prioritize our mental health and well-being. Here are a few strategies to help us manage both: 📍Open Communication: Address conflicts directly but professionally. Clear communication can often prevent misunderstandings and resolve issues before they escalate. 📍Seek Support: Don’t hesitate to reach out to mentors, colleagues, or professional networks for advice and support. Sometimes an outside perspective can provide valuable insights. Be sure to be discrete and handle in a professional manner 📍Prioritize Self-Care: We need to incorporate self-care into our routines. Regular exercise, adequate rest, and personal time are essential for maintaining our mental health. 📍Set Boundaries: Establishing clear boundaries between work and personal life can help reduce stress and prevent burnout. Make time for activities that recharge you outside of work. 📍Focus on Growth: View challenges as opportunities for personal and professional growth. Embrace the learning process and use it to build resilience. Growth might also be removing yourself from the environment. How do you tackle challenges at work while maintaining your well-being? Sometimes even the best pay, perks, and prospects can’t compensate for a poor manager who drains your motivation. What can you do - → 𝘡𝘰𝘰𝘮 𝘖𝘶𝘵: Notice patterns and seek a neutral perspective to avoid emotional biases. → 𝘈𝘤𝘵 𝘰𝘯 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬: Critical feedback is okay. Learn and improve where needed, but don’t accept toxicity. → 𝘚𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘬 𝘶𝘱: Don’t hesitate to ask for intervention if needed. → 𝘚𝘦𝘵 𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴: Stretched hours are okay occasionally, but putting up with toxic behaviours at the cost of your well-being is not. If nothing works, prioritize yourself and move out. Nothing is worth losing your physical and mental health. Ever faced something similar? #career #mentalhealth #manager

Some workplaces are REALLY stressful…so why doesn’t everyone burn out? And does it mean that something is wrong with you if you DO burn out? Based on over 20 years of research, my answer is NO. Even though some workplace policies, leadership style, and overall culture create a petri dish for burnout, some personalities are more prone to staying and succumbing to burnout. In other words, not everybody burns out in the exact same way. (It’s one of the reasons why burnout is so difficult to identify and overcome.) I've discovered a unique interplay between certain personality traits and workplace factors that increase your susceptibility to burnout. In this video, I'll share how 2 often highly valued personality traits can create the tipping point to burnout: the over-achieving perfectionist and the people-pleaser. Don’t worry: I'll also provide tips on how to navigate your workplace to minimize your risk for burnout and feel better about your job. NOTE: This is another “oldie but goodie,” so my apologies for the video quality! Why understanding the danger of Imposter Syndrome is worth it: Imposter syndrome can have detrimental effects on individuals' mental health and hinder their personal and professional growth. Feeling like a fraud at work can lead to increased stress levels, anxiety, and burnout, affecting overall well-being. Constantly doubting one's abilities can prevent individuals from taking on new challenges and reaching their full potential. Comparing oneself to others and feeling inadequate can hinder collaboration and hinder team dynamics. Ignoring imposter syndrome can lead to missed opportunities for growth and advancement in one's career. #impostersyndrome #confidence #workplace #teams #leadership
