With higher rates, payments from income annuities are at their highest levels in a decade. Equity exposure and risk is fantastic for the accumulation of wealth during your working years. When it comes to distribution of that wealth it’s important to remember that the tools you used to accumulate are not necessarily the best tools for the distribution of that wealth. Securing a guaranteed source of annual income in retirement frees up other assets and can allow for you to have more freedom in where you place and how much risk you can take on with those other assets. We focus a lot on the accumulation of wealth, but proper distribution of wealth can make or break a retirement. #finance #RetirementPlanning #wealth #PersonalFinance https://lnkd.in/dU5hzQz7

"Humans naturally trust members of their own group more than outsiders. This evolutionary trait, known as in-group favoritism, strengthens community bonds but also makes individuals more susceptible to affinity scams." Sharing this article again as St. Landry Parish seems to have a resurgence of aggressive affinity-based marketing coming from the financial sector.

I’ve come across many situations where clients, particularly wives, felt past #advisors didn’t respect their ideas or make them feel like equal partners. I make it a point to get both spouses involved—it helps build trust, keeps everyone on the same page, and leads to better #financial decisions down the road. More here 👇

As part of my work with Tentmakers (https://www.tentmakers.la/), I have had the privilege of standing beside survivors of clerical sex abuse, bringing their stories to the forefront and amplifying their voices. This journey has been both heartbreaking and inspiring, as I’ve witnessed the trials these brave individuals have endured. In addition to #advocacy efforts, I co-host the #podcast Resilience in the Shadows with my mother, Letitia Peyton. It’s a global platform where we share harrowing, raw, and often untold stories from survivors of clerical abuse. From the U.S. to far corners of the world, listeners join us in not only hearing these stories but in helping to break the silence that has long shrouded these experiences. We are dedicated to fostering resilience, #justice, and #healing. With each episode, we create a space for survivors to speak out, and we bring awareness to the ongoing struggles they face. Together, we can shine a light on the shadows and support those who need it most. Tune in, join the conversation, and help us be the change that survivors deserve! Podcast 👉 https://lnkd.in/dS4kXui7

Celebrating with family and friends after receiving the 2024 Small Business of the Year award from the St. Landry Chamber of Commerce. Grateful for all the love and support that has made Actus Wealth what it is today. Here’s to the journey ahead—feeling inspired and so lucky to share this moment with the best people! Over the past three years Actus has stepped in to provide speakers at the annual St. Landry Business Summits to provide the parish opportunities to engage with experts on Exit Planning, Business Valuation, and the host of tax and legal topics that accompany selling a business. Outside of the Business Summit, we have facilitated over 30 different talks / presentations on a host of financial topics under the Advanced Financial Concepts Seminar Series. We have brought experts from around the country to speak in St. Landry Parish. We have been available to business owners to assist anyway that we can - connecting them to other businesses when needed. While my work isn’t exclusive to St. Landry Parish, and Actus is in New Orleans, I do live and raise my children here. The work I do here is meaningful as I get the opportunity to impact my neighbors. The support I have from Actus & Kenneth J. Uhlich Jr., MA, CExP, ChFC, LUTCF is unmatched! Two paintings. The same canvas. The same paint. The same form and substance. Yet, one is the Mona Lisa, a timeless masterpiece. The other, a simple portrait by a fifth grader. So, what’s the difference? Aristotle would tell us it’s not just the form or the substance—it’s the arrangement. The harmony, the balance, the execution. The way each stroke complements the next, creating something far greater than the sum of its parts. The same is true for your financial life. You may have all the right tools—#investments, #retirement accounts, insurance policies—but it’s the way they are arranged and aligned with your goals that determines whether you’re building a basic plan or a financial masterpiece. #innovation #entrepreneurship

It’s odd to see big #solar energy projects coming to St. Landry Parish recently. With large companies ( NextEra Energy, Inc., Lightsource bp ) setting up solar farms in the area, it raises some questions: What do these projects mean for the local economy? Will they create lasting jobs, or are they mostly temporary? How will these solar farms impact local businesses? Could they lead to cheaper energy for local industries or more opportunities for growth? It’s been interesting to see the pushback from the agriculture community here in St. Landry Parish regarding the use of farmland (or potential farmland) for solar energy projects. There are valid concerns about preserving agricultural space, but in my opinion, a lot of these fears seem to be overblown and sometimes tied more to a perceived political ideology than the actual impacts. I’ve had some great conversations with representatives from the companies behind these solar projects, and I have to say—they’ve done their homework. Every discussion has been positive, and their data is solid. They’re not just talking about short-term gains; they have long-term plans for the community and a clear understanding of the land and resources here in St. Landry Parish. It’s a big change for the region, and it’ll be interesting to see how it unfolds for both the economy and the community.
