"The way we think about charity is dead wrong." The title from Dan Pallotta's Ted talk a decade ago still holds true today. As he summarizes, "Too many nonprofits are rewarded for how little they spend -- not for what they get done. Instead of equating frugality with morality, start rewarding charities for their big goals and big accomplishments (even if that comes with big expenses). Let's change the way we think about changing the world.”   Recently, the documentary "Uncharitable" was released, highlighting these same points. https://lnkd.in/eaykhZrG   As someone who has worked in the non-profit sector for over a decade, I have often heard comments like "99% of an organization's funds should go to the mission," or "I refuse to put a dime towards overhead or administration." But why is this the common response?   The services provided by non-profits are necessary, but so are the people who run them. Maybe it’s time reconsider the restrictions we place on charitable giving and support those who champion the causes we care about? Let's think deeper about the organizations we support and the people behind them 💜

Can the new film ‘Uncharitable’ change people's minds about overhead at nonprofits?
