There is always a reason to visit beautiful Tegernsee. I was particularly pleased to be a guest at the Ludwig Erhard Summit #leg24 in Gmund yesterday. It's not just the view that's great, it's the dialogue about what makes Germany and Europe strong, and the role of industry.   On the panel with Judith Gerlach, Iris Plöger, Heidrun Irschik-Hadjieff and moderated by Dr. Christoph Specht, we naturally focused on the challenges of location and promoting innovation in Germany - issues that remain crucial for our industry. However, hosting the conference at Lake Tegernsee also highlighted how effective location policies can be implemented, using Bavaria as a prime example. The Free State is a model of collaboration, as demonstrated by the Bavarian Pharmaceutical Summit. As a research-driven pharmaceutical company, this resonates strongly with our operations; we conduct numerous clinical trials here, with 120 sites, and every fifth trial centre is located in Bavaria. And although I've already noticed that people in Germany don't necessarily love comparisons with Bavaria, it is reassuring that at the national level, we have emulated Bavaria's approach: The pharmaceutical strategy is pivotal for MSD Deutschland and our entire industry. It's a decisive statement by the government to put Germany back on the world stage.   #StarkAmStandort

Kühne Holding Acquires Aenova from BC Partners Kühne Holding has agreed to purchase Aenova Group, a pharma contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO), from BC Partners. BC will reinvest and retain a minority stake in Aenova. The financial terms remain undisclosed. Aenova Group, a global CDMO headquartered in Starnberg, provides comprehensive services for the development, manufacturing, and packaging of #drug products. With 4,000 employees across 14 sites, it has grown into one of the world’s top ten CDMOs under BC Partners’ ownership and CEO Jan Kengelbach’s leadership. In 2023, Aenova achieved record pro-forma revenue of € 832m, up 17% from the previous year. Dominik de Daniel, CEO at Kuehne Holding AG, commented, "With this investment, we are taking an important strategic step to enlarge our investment portfolio to include #healthcare and #pharmaceutical assets with a strong financial base and long-term growth prospects.
