Fundamental to Systematic or Systematic to fundamental? More and more trading firms are increasingly blending the insights and perspectives of fundamental, bottom up analysis and technical, systematic signals to enhance and improve strategies being generated. It's happening in both directions, whether it's discretionary funds bringing in those with a quantitative background to help systematise pre-existing strategies or electronic trading shops looking to utilise the analysis of fundamental specialists - such an approach is becoming more and more common. We're currently working on two roles, with two separate firms where they're looking to blend both methodologies. One is with a discretionary trading firm who are looking to bring in a systematic specialist to help develop and systematise strategies within a specialised quantamental team. Another is with a HFT firm that is looking for an equity research analyst to provide fundamental perspectives to improve existing strats as well as drive new revenue streams from their bottom up analysis. If you're an equity researcher looking to work in a more fast paced and quant driven environment or a quant researcher looking to be part of a new and growing team - reach out, these roles may be of interest. #trading #quantamental #systematic #quantitative #fundamental

Titles of Quant roles can be quite confusing, what’s the difference between ad Quant Researcher and a Quant Analyst for instance? Another really helpful post from Quant Insider that I thought might help shed some light 🔵 Quant Researcher – typically work very closely with PMs and usually takes home a % of PnL Use stats and ML to predict market returns and find “alpha”. Usually have a PhD and have very strong programming 🔵 Quant Trader – traders build algos / computer programmes to make markets / create liquidity. They will buy or sell assets and aim to hedge positions. They make profit from the bid-ask spread. 🔵 Quant Analyst – Quant Analysts build pricing and risk tools. They model asset prices and calculate risk. Typically strong math / statistics background and excellent programming. Knowledge of products / assets 🔵 Quant Developer – a Quant Dev is a hybrid position between a developer and a researcher. They need excellent computer science background but also need to understand finance. Devs put into production trading strategies, build trading platforms or develop pricing / risk tools Thanks for reading and hope it helps. Please like ❤️ / share ♻ / comment 🗣 and it might reach someone that it really helps. If you’d like to discuss further please get in touch, would love to do so. #financialservicesrecruitment #hedgefunds #assetmanagement #quant #quantinvesting #investmentbanking #buyside #sellside #marketmaking #londonjobs #dublinjobs

Quant traders use strategies based on quantitative analysis—mathematical computations and number crunching—to find trading possibilities that can involve hundreds of thousands of securities. An aspiring quant trader needs to be exceptionally skilled and interested in all things mathematical—if you don't live, breathe and sleep numbers, then this is not the field for you. A bachelor's degree in math, a master's degree in financial engineering or quantitative financial modeling or an MBA are all helpful for scoring a job; some analysts will also have a Ph.D. in these or similar fields. Lacking an advanced degree, a candidate should at least have on the job training and experience as a data analyst; experience with data mining, research, analysis, and automated trading systems are a must. Traders also need soft skills, such as the ability to thrive under pressure, maintain focus despite long hours, withstand an intense, aggressive environment and stomach setbacks and failures in pursuit of success. The word "quant" is derived from quantitative, which essentially means working with numbers. The advancement of computer-aided algorithmic trading and high-frequency trading means there is a huge amount of data to be analyzed. Quants mine and research the available price and quote data, identify profitable trading opportunities, develop relevant trading strategies and capitalize on opportunities with lightning-fast speed using self-developed computer programs. In essence, a quant trader needs a balanced mix of in-depth mathematics knowledge, practical trading exposure, and computer skills. #careercoaching #quantitativetrading #mathematicseducation #quantum

Interesting post from Quant Hub and wanted to share Whilst the majority of quant roles are in Risk, the Front Office quant roles are the ones that make the headlines. They are the most lucrative and because of that can be the most sought after. They are also the most difficult to get. Here's some examples of what's required: Quant background: at least a Bachelors but more likely a post graduate degree / PhD in Math(s), Physics, Engineering, Computer Science or similar Excellent understanding of Python / C++ / R is essential and machine learning techniques Very strong grasp of the markets and a detailed understanding of your asset class as well as how financial products are priced and traded. Networking is key. It's a cliche but your network is your net worth. Reach out to quants in the businesses you admire, attend industry events, connect with experts in the areas you're interested in. If you can't join a Hedge Fund immediately, I would strongly advise you to consider front office quant roles in the Bulge Bracket banks. Firms like Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan, Morgan Stanley etc. Personal projects solving finance problems, you might set up a personal portfolio applying quant techniques to the markets so you have tangible performance track records. Remember these roles are hard to secure and the top firms you are targeting are very selective. There will be rejections along the way but don't give up. Every 'no' is one step closer to a 'yes'! Thanks for reading and hope it helps. Please like ❤️ / share ♻ / comment 🗣 and this might reach someone who it makes a difference to Would be delighted to discuss further so please feel free to get in touch. #financialservicesrecruitment #hedgefundrecruitment #assetmanagementrecruitment #hedgefunds #assetmanagement #buyside #sellside #quant #quantrecruiting #londonjobs #dublinjobs

Here are a few prop firms known to take this approach: IF YOU WANT TO GET IN I CANT WAIT TO GET AWAY SAY THIS AGAIN 👑👑 😉😘💸🌍😸💯😘 BE PREPARED .. - Quantopian - Well-known online quant firm that funds new algorithmic/quant traders based on passing a multi-stage exam process and coding evaluation. No track record needed. - Hedgemine - Quantitative prop firm that provides online exams testing math/programming skills. Successful candidates invited to trading interview without proven returns. - Worldquant - Global quantitative trading firm that recruits pure quants through technical phone interviews testing math/programming aptitude over trading history. - Tower Research Capital - Major high-frequency trading firm recruiting new traders through competitive online screening exams evaluating skills/knowledge over past results. - Capital Fund Management - Paris-based quant firm recruiting algorithmic traders at entry-level through evaluations of coding/model building skills through online exams. - Progressive Trader - Chicago-based prop firm funding new traders who can pass their detailed series of online trading challenge exams on concepts over track record. - XTX Markets - London high-speed market making firm screening new trader candidates based on aptitude tests over years of experience or education background. So firms catering specifically to quant/algo trading or those focused more on aptitude than experience do evaluate new traders based mainly on exhaustive testing processes when considering funding without an established track record.

End of the week job roll out and interesting tidbit. I recently came across an article highlighting that only about a third of Quantitative Analytics, Research & Trading professionals found their current bonus motivating, and even fewer felt it met their expectations, standing at just 40%. Interestingly, a staggering 85% of these professionals indicated that a low or non-existent bonus would prompt them to leave their current company. With bonus season behind us, it's intriguing to observe how firms heavily reliant on this talent pool and proactive professionals who understand their value navigate this situation. Below is this weeks end of the week job roll out. Get in touch with me (gm@pinpoint.cateers) to discuss.
