I JUST GOT INTERVIEWED BY AN AI BOT ~ I had recently applied for a position at Mercor and about 10 days ago received an email to schedule an interview with an AI INTERVIEWER. The way the email was composed, had me convinced that it was a person. As you can see it had extensively gone through my resume and showed interest in specific aspects of my projects and skillset. fast-forward to today, I just finished my interview -> and I must say that I just had the most mind-blowing interview experience with an AI bot. From start to finish, it felt like I was engaging with a seasoned recruiter rather than lines of code. The AI bot demonstrated an impressive ability to comprehend nuances, read between the lines, and even threw in a couple of curveball questions. The monotony in its voice was quickly overshadowed by the depth of the conversation and the sheer intelligence it displayed. I found myself forgetting that I was conversing with a machine! This experience has completely shifted my perspective on the integration of AI in the hiring process. As technology evolves, so do our recruitment methods, and this encounter left me excited about the future possibilities. Interview: You study every single buzzword: "synergy," "KPIs," "leveraging data," like you're cramming for the world’s hardest exam. You rehearse your elevator pitch like you're auditioning for a TED Talk, trying to make “I used Excel” sound like you invented Microsoft. They ask you brain-teasers like: "How many golf balls fit in a Boeing 747?" (Spoiler: You’ll never use this knowledge. Ever.) Actual Job: You spend three days trying to figure out why the printer won't work, realizing that nobody here talks about “synergy.” The most technical task you do is remembering your computer password after a long weekend. You email someone in the next room... because why walk when you can avoid human interaction? It’s like preparing for a marathon but showing up to find out it’s just a casual walk around the block! Hiring can take a LOT of time from hiring managers, but using AI like this to augment will just mean the job rec is open longer because the all-star talent you're looking to hire will likely want nothing to do with this. What does that mean for hiring managers? 1. The longer your role is open, the more work that piles up. 2. You'll turn off the great talent in the process so you'll end up giving the time back in triaing for who you do hire. 3. It's expensive. Every 3 months a role is oen you incease the chance of burnout from the rest of your team by 30%.
