Just returned from a rejuvenating trip to Kerala, India. The state’s lush greenery and serene backwaters were a stark contrast to the bustling urban landscapes I’m used to. It was a much-needed break, and I couldn’t help but reflect on how nature’s beauty can inspire innovation in the world of glass. One thing that particularly struck me was the unique architectural style in Kerala compared to Mumbai. While Mumbai's architecture often prioritizes functionality and density, Kerala's buildings often incorporate traditional elements that blend seamlessly with the natural surroundings. This emphasis on harmony and sustainability is something to admire, and it can serve as a valuable inspiration for those of us working with glass. As someone passionate about glass, I’m always seeking new ways to incorporate natural elements and sustainable practices into my work. The crystal-clear waters of Kerala reminded me of the raw beauty of glass and the potential for creating truly stunning pieces. Looking forward to incorporating some of the inspiration I gained from this trip into my future projects. #Kerala #India #Travel #Nature #Architecture #Glass #Innovation #Sustainability #glassicartstudio #architectureglass

Why Space Planning is My Superpower One of the most invaluable things I learned while designing in Mumbai was how to make maximum usage of minimal space. If you've high property prices and less space, then just having a skill for space planning isn't enough; you have to become an artist at it. One of the first Mumbai projects I remember distinctly had an abnormally small 500 square feet of area. Every single inch counted, and the end result was one of the things I'm most proud of. That project also taught me that sometimes less really does mean more. Now, when we work in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, that philosophy translates to much larger spaces. Instead of compact living, we're working with sprawling areas where I can apply my space optimization skills on a grander scale. Lately, I designed a 10,000-square-foot villa in Jaipur and paid attention to the smallest details, just as I do in smaller spaces. The lesson? No matter how much space one has, it’s how one uses it that makes all the difference. #SpacePlanning #DesignSkills #InteriorDesign #UrbanLiving #OptimizedSpaces #CreativeDesign #Architecture #SmallSpaceSolutions #GrandDesigns #DesignInnovation #Tier2And3Cities #EmergingMarkets #SmartDesign #SpaceOptimization #LuxuryDesign

I was drawn to Architectural Digest's announcement of this year’s 100 most influential architects, and as I browsed through the projects of these incredible talents, a few common threads really stood out to me. One of the most exciting trends is the way these designers are blending tradition with modernity. Whether it’s infusing colonial influences with contemporary design in Chennai or celebrating the Ladakhi way of building while using cutting-edge techniques, there’s a beautiful balance between honoring the past and embracing the future. Another thing that grabbed my attention was how eco-conscious so many of these projects are. Sustainability isn't just a buzzword here—these architects are making it the foundation of their work. They’re using local materials like mud, stone, and wood, designing homes that stay warm or cool naturally, and integrating things like solar panels and eco-friendly toilets. It’s clear that these designers are thinking about how to live lightly on the planet without compromising on style or comfort. I also noticed a strong push towards creating homes that seamlessly blend indoor and outdoor spaces. It’s almost like the walls are disappearing, making nature an integral part of everyday life. Homes are being designed with courtyards, expansive decks, and massive windows that bring the outdoors in. The connection with nature is being prioritized in a way that feels refreshing and calming. What really inspired me, though, is how these architects are responding to the unique challenges of local climates and geography. Whether it’s a home built to withstand the harsh winters of Ladakh or one that’s designed to manage floods in Ahmedabad, each project feels deeply rooted in its environment. And finally, I love how so many of these designs put people at the heart of the project. Homes are being created not just for individuals but for families and communities, with spaces that encourage connection and togetherness. There’s something really human about these designs, something that goes beyond aesthetics to focus on how we live, gather, and interact with one another. It’s clear that the next generation of architects and designers in India is pushing boundaries in the most thoughtful and meaningful ways. #ArchitecturalDigest #OdysseyOfElegance #TheLuxuryEdit #InfluentialArchitects #SustainableDesign #ArchitectureAndNature

As an interior designer, witnessing the rise of new apartments in Bangalore excites me, signaling a plethora of opportunities for innovation and creativity in my field. Each new building represents a blank canvas waiting to be transformed into a functional and aesthetically pleasing space. However, as a Bangalorean, this rapid urbanization brings a mix of emotions. The city's already strained water resources and other infrastructural challenges pose serious concerns. The balance between growth and sustainability seems increasingly precarious. Should we halt the construction of new apartments to preserve our resources, or is there a more sustainable approach to urban development that can accommodate growth while addressing these critical issues? What innovative solutions can we adopt to ensure that our city's expansion is both prosperous and sustainable? #bangalore #interiordesign #apartments #solution #sustainable #bengaluru

SJK Architects has recently unveiled "The Light House," a stunning multi-generational home located in Nagpur, India. This innovative design harmonizes traditional Indian architectural elements with modern functionality. The home is enveloped in openable wooden shutters, reminiscent of traditional jaalis, allowing for natural ventilation and sunlight while maintaining privacy. As someone who appreciates the balance between heritage and contemporary design, I find it fascinating how SJK Architects has incorporated features such as a central atrium and balconies that foster family connections and communal spaces. The clever use of materials like dark Accoya pine not only enhances aesthetics but also contributes to climate control, showing a strong commitment to sustainability. Engaging with the community is vital, especially in light of how architecture impacts our daily lives. How do you think design can better address the needs of multi-generational families? Do you have any favorite examples of homes that blend modern living with traditional elements? It's inspiring to see designs that respect history while adapting to current needs. Let's continue to share ideas that blend culture and innovation in architecture. #rendimension #hugoramirezarchitect #renderings #vrtraining www.rendimension.com Full article "SJK Architects wraps multi-generational Indian home with wooden shutters" Link: https://lnkd.in/gZxngKRZ

“The City of Dreams” through the lens of an architect… Mumbai is the city of dreams for all, as they say! But lately, I can affirm that Mumbai is definitely an “Architect’s city of dreams “ • Bombay homes: The urban fabric of the city throws a massive challenge, allowing for freedom to design mostly vertically. But at the same time, the bestest of the houses and spaces come alive in this very city. Be it the compact yet comfortable studio apartments or the sophisticated yet spacious celebrity homes- Mumbai has it all ! • Design shows/ architectural design exhibits: AD design, ID design, D-code, FOAID, Design Mumbai, to name a few… The frequency of these shows is insane!! There is some architectural design show happening every other week and the kind of exposure and experiences at these events are unmatched. • New/ Emerging trends: The industry is growing at a rapid pace and the quick adoption of emerging trends can be witnessed, be it in the material palettes, the colour palettes or with respect to the design features- all in the same city which is home to some of the top architectural firms and booming real estate • Abode to different architectural styles: With its diverse range of architectural styles, from Art Deco to Gothic revival, from the historic neighbourhoods of Colaba and Bandra which are a treasure trove of architectural heritage and from the iconic monuments like Gateway of India to the modern skyscrapers, the city is a testament to rich history and cultural diversity. Hence, the changing design trends and the changing lifestyle preferences can be seen and experienced, both at the same pace, unlike any other city. Comment your thoughts about the city of dreams … #Mumbai #Architecture #CityOfDreams #Architects #Design #Innovation #Creativity #Business #RealEstate

𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐤'𝐬 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐩𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐨𝐩𝐡𝐲 There's been a lot of talk about our design philosophy. Today, let's talk about it. We started with low-rise buildings but soon transitioned to high-rise structures, realizing that a typical box design wouldn't set us apart. We sought out innovative architects and structural engineers to bring our vision to life. Though we faced challenges initially in both design and sales, our commitment to crafting exceptional buildings paid off – our project sold out upon its launch. Inspired by the hand gesture 'namaste', our post building design philosophy was born. Why should Ahmedabad's skyline be dominated by straight buildings? We believed in introducing unique designs, starting our design evolution in 2011. Over time, our inspiration expanded from gestures to objects, focusing more on commercial spaces where design flexibility allows for greater creativity. #ShivalikGroup #BuildingDesign #architecturedesign #legacy #ahmedabadcity
