UPDATE TO HIGHWAY CLOSURE NOTICE: Westbound U.S. 287 from Midlothian Parkway will be closed tonight (1/22) starting at 9:00 p.m. for the removal of a large wind turbine. The highway is not closed as of 1:00 p.m. on 1/22 but will be closed starting at 9:00 p.m. for the removal. Eastbound traffic will remain unaffected. HIGHWAY CLOSURE NOTICE: Westbound U.S. 287 is currently closed at Midlothian Parkway due to a large accident involving an 18-wheeler and a large wind turbine. TxDOT and the Midlothian Police Department are re-routing traffic onto Main Street (U.S. 287 Business) through Midlothian. Eastbound traffic on U.S. 287 is not affected. Can you charge an EV when the power is out? (Or how about pumping gas?) This question is especially relevant for those affected by Hurricane Beryl, like the people of Houston, TX, where parts of the city were without power. Gas pumps require electricity (as do EV chargers) for their pumps to work! So when the power is out, both are down. That’s why it’s so impressive that Buc-ee’s had backup power generation to stay fully operational -- pumping gas and charging EVs!
