Dedicated to the Success of the next generation. Thanks to the Delta Teen Lift for inviting me to come and speak to their Young Adults on my career journey, leadership and navigating the College Experience. Teen Lift is designed to address the educational, social and cultural needs of the inner city youth. The focus is to assemble youths within the urban communities that are often labeled underachievers, at-risk or impoverished. Their main objective is to provide experiences that develop a sense of pride, purpose and commitment to their communities. Students engage in a comprehensive transformation process developing their minds. The students get tutoring in subjects in which they may need assistance. Students attend workshop sessions covering the following topics: health, political, cultural, educational and economic awareness. In addition to the tutoring and workshops, this program allows students to broaden their horizons through various activities and field trips. When a bridge is built between school and home, great things can happen for students! Here's a quote from some recent feedback on this course - "I really appreciated the 3 goals to keep in mind when working with families. Stating them at the beginning and revisiting at the end clearly emphasized the importance of everything in the middle. The step-by-step information about how to make a phone call or do a conference was extremely helpful. This course was informative and very helpful in parent/family communication."

It’s important that we create the time and space to understand what respect looks like for the people we are in relationship with.” (Thara Brown) Culture is Life Education's initiatives include teacher preparation, social impact campaigns, and curriculum resource development. In order to encourage educators to imaginatively incorporate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, peoples, and cultures into their classrooms, a group of First Nations educators and young people designed all of the materials.
