What an amazing week at the IKEA Board Meeting in Poland – where we took a deep dive into IKEA’s Supply Chain, an area of mastery and excellence, which is of course essential for IKEA’s quality and low prices. The Head of IKEA’s Supply Chain is the wonderful Susanne Waidzunas, an IKEA veteran who leads operations in a clever, trustworthy and low-profile way – very much in IKEA’s style! 😊 We visited the biggest furniture factory in the world, located in Poznan, which has over 100 hectares of working operations! This factory is led by another AMAZING woman Małgorzata Dobies-Turulska. 💪 There are so many stories I could share about this visit, but for now I want to highlight how impressed I was with the commitment towards co-creating a fully decarbonised goods flow! IKEA completes 1.7 million shipments a year, and the team are constantly striving to ensure that logistics are simpler, more affordable and sustainable. Bien sûr! IKEA’s ambition is to use zero-emission transport and 100% renewable energy across operations, with: ✅ 100% renewable electricity in logistics units by 2025 ✅ 70% relative reduction in transport operations and the use of 100% renewable energy by 2030 I was also very excited to see the fleet of 100% electric trucks! Did you know that IKEA was the pioneer of using the mega trucks from Volvo Group? 🤔 An epic move from IKEA – much like Claude Van Dime’s famous Volvo split!
