When you start building a business in healthcare, it's easy to get lost in the complexity of regulations, reimbursement models, provider adaptation challenges, etc., and forget how personal healthcare is for many providers and community members who are working to deliver care. Last week, I had a chance to listen to community members, a school counselor, and healthcare team members who are hard at work supporting youth mental health in Maine. I was moved by their commitment, emotion, and dedication to supporting our youth in their day-to-day challenges in this hyper-isolated environment. Also, our idea for "They're for Me" reminded me how new innovations in the mental health area shouldn't be ground-breaking; actually, they should be quite the opposite. They should be a rejuvenation of some old approaches, such as having meaningful connections with your trusted circle in a new format that matches this new digital era, augmented with a data-driven approach, and supported by an innovative business model that aligns all parties' interests. And yes, the check was big, and of course, our winning team ( Allyson Goida, Emily Morrow) was awesome. Thanks to Terra Dunham, Elena Brondolo MBA, MPH, EdD, The Roux Institute at Northeastern University, and MaineHealth for organizing this Start Summit. #MentalHealth #youth #AIInHealthCare #PopulationHealth #DigitalHealth
