ALIPH - International alliance for the protection of heritage in conflict areas’ Post

Our new, first-ever full-scale exhibition “Salvaged from the shadows, protecting cultural heritage,” opens tomorrow at the National Museum of China in #Beijing! Through photos, videos, an immersive film, artifacts, facsimiles, and sounds, this exhibition demonstrates the imperative to protect cultural heritage threatened by conflict or the impact of climate change. It illustrates methods of protection and pays tribute to the women and men on the ground whose work acts as a vector for building peace and sustainable development. This exhibition presents cultural heritage not only as a means of resilience that engenders education, and sustainable economic and social development, but also an instrument for inter-cultural dialogue and peacebuilding. “Salvaged from the shadows” only exists because of the excellent collaborators ALIPH has had the pleasure to work alongside since our founding. First and foremost, we thank all our partners featured in this exhibition and beyond for their dedication, perseverance, and cooperation. A special thanks to @ICONEM who turned 3D scans into a beautiful immersive film and developed the entire scenography, and of course to the National Museum of China for initiating this partnership and hosting the exhibition. This exhibition is supported by the Embassy of France in China and the Institut français de Chine. #HeritageProtection #CulturalPreservation #ALIPHExhibition #SalvagedFromTheShadows
