BREAKING: The Financial Conduct Authority is considering "interim solutions" to mitigate the impacts of current cost disclosure requirements on investment trusts, as the government "acts to implement a long-term legislative solution to the issue". The government said it has provided the FCA with the "appropriate" rule-making powers to reform cost disclosure requirements currently set out in the PRIIPs regulation, "enabling the delivery of a solution to these concerns". However, it noted that certain legislative requirements relevant to this issue are also set out in MiFID, so it will also repeal relevant provisions in MiFID alongside its replacement of the PRIIPs regulation through a separate statutory instrument. My reading of the SEBI consultation on New Asset Class if it is to be implemented as it is: First a note on new asset classes - It should be noted that it's not introduction of new asset class, rather it is introduction of new product category. Asset classes are Equity, Debt and Alternatives which this consultation paper doesn't intend to add to. Implications 1. Unregistered investments advisors will have great competition from this category. 2. ⁠registered Investment advisors who were focussing on ticket sizes of less than 50 lacs have a new competitor. 3. ⁠PMS / AIF would face a significant challenge if this cateogory is also allowed tax benefits available currently only to MF schemes (no STCG/LTCG tax on sale when sale is by MFs) 4. ⁠investor will have more choices so wealth manager have more work and value to add
