Happy National DNA Day! Since 2003, this day has united students, educators, and the public to celebrate the milestone completion of the Human Genome Project in 2003 and the groundbreaking discovery of the double helix in 1953. As we commemorate this remarkable progress in genetics, let's also reflect on the continued advancements in molecular biology. In-situ hybridization techniques play a crucial role in detecting RNA and DNA in tissue sections, shedding light on genetic expression and regulation. At Precisionary Instruments, we're proud to provide vibratome and microtome equipment that enables researchers to prepare high-quality tissue sections for in-situ hybridization studies. Check out our tips and tricks for making ISH a breeze: https://lnkd.in/evkapZSU Here's to celebrating the past, present, and future of DNA research! 🧬 #NationalDNADay #Genetics #InSituHybridization #Vibratome #Microtome #PrecisionaryInstruments #compresstome #microtomes #vibratingmicrotomes #vibratomes #tissuesectioning #precisioncuttissuesslices #tissueslicing #laboratoryequipment #labsolutions

The Scientist reports on new research by Dr. Titia de Lange and her research team at The Rockefeller University, led in part by geneticist Hiroyuki Takai. De Lange's team have discovered key factors and proteins that influence disparities in telomeres. Telomeres are the protective elements at the ends of chromosomes critical for the stability and maintenance of genetic information. Read the full article on de Lange and Takai's findings at The Scientist at the following link. The original research paper was published in Nature, on February 28, 2024. (Nature is a publication of Nature Portfolio). Born in the Netherlands, de Lange received the Vilcek Prize in Biomedical Science from The Vilcek Foundation in 2011. #Chromosome #Chromosomes #Gene #Genetics #Immigrant #ImmigrantsinScience #Science #RockefellerUniversity #Telomeres #TitiaDeLange #WomeninScience #WomeninSTEM

If the structure of DNA remained unknown, sequencing the complete human genome would have been an impossible task. Today we commemorate the discovery of the DNA helix on April 25, 1953, by celebrating #DNADay. Every year on April 25, genomic enthusiasts gather to celebrate the groundbreaking discoveries made possible by DNA research, including the completion of the Human Genome Project on that same date in 2003. #Synterex would like to highlight a few fields that benefited greatly from these findings: • The Human Genome Project • The advent of contemporary molecular biology • The study of diseases • Cloning and gene editing • Genetic testing • Forensic sciences • Determination of ancestry and family tree To learn more about DNA Day, visit: https://lnkd.in/dzxVjnw Lastly, while James Watson, Francis Crick, and Maurice Wilkins went on to receive the Nobel Prize in physiology or medicine for discovering the molecular structure of DNA, we often forget about Rosalind Franklin, the gifted chemist and pioneer in X-ray crystallography responsible for the groundbreaking Photograph 51. Learn more about her here: https://lnkd.in/gXNXTwws
