THANKS SOUTH HIGH FOOTBALL | GO RAVENS! 🏈🫶 Huge shoutout to these incredible student-athletes from South High Football (Denver South Squad) who joined us for a Ditch the Desk day! They rolled up their sleeves and helped 7 of our older adults with yard work, making a real difference in their lives. We got to meet several of these amazing kids and were so impressed by their heart for service. Want to serve older adults near you? Visit https://lnkd.in/gfWgNrpJ to get started. 💤 Skegee: Your go-to for vegan sleep gummies and holistic wellness supplements. Sleep better, live healthier. 🌱
On National Build Day, Alabama Professional Services and Sleep in Heavenly Peace joined forces to tackle a daunting issue: child bedlessness. This initiative aimed to provide hand-made beds to children who, without this support, would have to sleep on floors or couches, contributing to severe health and emotional challenges. Reflecting on my own experiences, I remember volunteering for community projects similar to this where we came together, rolled up our sleeves, and made a tangible impact. There’s something incredibly fulfilling about working collectively to uplift those in need—it's a reminder of the positive change we can create in our communities. Did you know that sleep deprivation can lead to hyperactivity, anxiety, and depression in children? The bedlessness crisis is real, and initiatives like these are crucial for fostering healthier futures for our youth. What can you do to contribute to this cause? Consider volunteering your time or donating to organizations that address these pressing issues. Together, we can bring hope and comfort to the lives of children. #ChildWelfare #CommunitySupport #Volunteer #SleepInHeavenlyPeace #AlabamaProfessionalServices #NationalBuildDay

Thank you very much for thinking of me and Bulldog Financial Planning this April during your Volunteer appreciation month. When founding Bulldog Financial Planning, I wanted to make sure that there was a commitment to financial education and financial literacy. #BulldogFinancialPlanning #BulldogFP #financialliteracy #financialplanning #financialfreedom #financialeducation #finance
April is National Volunteer Month! To celebrate we are shining a light on our amazing volunteers who dedicate their time and energy to giving back to the community through JA! Today we want to thank Patrick Randall, CFP®, MBA from Bulldog Financial Planning. Patrick has been volunteering with us since January 2023 and in that time, he has become one of our most dedicated and consistent volunteers. He has joined us at multiple schools, teaching financial literacy programs at different grade levels. Thank you, Patrick! Happy New Year everyone! With this new year starting, wanted to quickly take stock. As the grind picks (right back up!), and we turn to setting professional goals for 2024, just a reminder to think 2024 personal goals as well. As we crush through our "9-5", how about our "5-9"? I know several of us think family goals, hobbies, etc., but don't forget about service as well. I know we all have heavy burdens on our time, but if you can free some up, what might you be able to apply it towards? Is there a club or organization looking for new volunteer board members, local humane society just itching for volunteers to help with cleaning or dog walks, local non-profits that could use your specific skill set, take a CPR/BLS class, perhaps an opportunity to participate in public service by running for office? Just wanted to stir the thoughts as we start off another year! #volunteersmakeadifference #2024goals #volunteeringmatters

❓ What is your role in the system❓ If you work in systems change, to make progress you should start by asking what you / your organisation's role is within the system. #ICYMI last week we launched a guide to systems change. Get in touch if you'd like to learn more. 👇🏻
Today we launched our guide for systems change! 🚀🚀 Our Place & Systems Team shared the guide and their learning with our community of place-based systems change funders, practitioners, and thinkers at our annual in-person get together. The guide is the result of a 12-month inquiry into what it takes to change a system, and is informed by years of learning about places, issues, and systems with valued clients and partners. 🔍🌱 We're thrilled to share it with you today! https://lnkd.in/ep3v2rpQ Look out for insights about its development and how to use it from the team. 👀 Get in touch to find out more: Beth Stout, Kezia Jackson-Harman, Eleanor Langdale, Ade Adebowale MIEP, Sarah Rojvithee, Cathy Hearn, Molly Calland and Jonathan Price. #SystemChangeModel #ModelForSystemChange #LetsPushThingsForward Thanks to Young Brent Foundation, Spark! Roots & Wings is an incredible non-profit organization dedicated to supporting youth aging out of foster care. The statistics speak for themselves: - More than 1 in 5 will become homeless within 18 months of emancipating. - Almost 50% of inmates in our prison systems have spent time in the foster care system. - Only half of aged-out foster youth obtain their GED or High School diploma by age 19. - Just 6% go on to earn a 2- or 4-year degree. In 2023, Roots & Wings members defied the odds: - 100% have a High School diploma. - 94% were employed. - 88% maintained a savings account. - 81% attended an educational, vocational, or certificate program. Join us at the Gala on October 17th, a crucial event that supports Roots & Wings in their mission. Your participation or donation can make a real difference. Social Justice Consultant and Coach. I equip changemakers who yearn to make a bigger difference even when facing institutions, communities, or systems that resist change with my Liberation inside/out methodology.
🥇 There's only one opportunity to make a first impression. "WE'RE JUST BEGINNING, WE WANT TO HAVE ALL OUR DUCKS IN A ROW BEFORE WE CONNECT WITH THE COMMUNITY" 🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆. I get that. But Hmmmmmm.... What if waiting turns your community into the LIONS who will eat your ducks? 🦁🦁🦁🦁 Here's the thing. IF you have a NEW cool new vision, project, or non-profit. IF you're really committed to justice and you want to see your vision make a difference for the community around you. Awesome! IF you've spent the first year just taking care of paperwork, and laws, and lawyers, and zoning folks, and property upgrades...... IF through all this community doesn't know yet what you're about.... You're lining up your ducks to possibly be eaten up by lions. For your vision, project to have a TRUE community approach—community engagement has to start AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. You haven't done it cause the stakes are high? I agree. They are. That's why you may need a social justice strategy - so you get your communication and interactions right with your community - the first time. Cause communities REMEMBER. There's only one opportunity to make a first impression. DM me to see if it's a right fit for you. The Social Impact Intensive may be right for you. https://lnkd.in/dUAcY4jC 🥇 Book

I believe that Businesses and Corporations should have a significant impact on their communities, and giving back to the infrastructure of kids is a great way to make a positive difference. By donating time, services, or resources, companies can help support the development and well-being of young people, which can lead to a more prosperous and healthy community. Some ways businesses can give back include: 1. Mentorship programs: Pairing employees with young people for guidance and support. 2. Educational initiatives: Supporting schools, literacy programs, or STEM education. 3. Community outreach: Hosting events, workshops, or activities that benefit local youth. 4. Philanthropy: Donating to organizations that support children's health, education, and welfare. 5. Employee volunteer programs: Encouraging employees to volunteer their time to support local youth-focused initiatives. By giving back, businesses can demonstrate their commitment to social responsibility, enhance their reputation, and contribute to a brighter future for generations to come. Terry T. Gray
