Time to update your headshot! I have just updated my headshot on LinkedIn and my websites to reflect who I am now and what people see when they meet me face to face. Why bother, I hear you ask? Well, it's important to me that when people meet me for the first time, having only seen my profile photo on LinkedIn or my websites they recognise the person in front of them and don't do a double take and think I am sure they looked different when I saw their profile pic. But does it matter? Yes is the answer, we all make split second decisions when we meet people, especially for the first time, so I never want that first impression to be one of doubt. But you've not changed, I bet you think. Well, I have. I have lost over 10 kg in the past year, and so many people comment on how well I look when they see me now. So, it's time to make sure that the photos I use to represent me truly do look like me. Also, the beard is definitely more grey than it used to be, and the hair is slowly going into hiding, so again, there are good reasons for updating my headshot. It's time to update your headshot; give me a shout, and let's get the person folk see every day in person to represent you online as well. #AliveHeadshots #EdinburghHeadshotPhotographer #SeeWhatOthersSee

"Head forward, chin down." It's a simple tip, but honest, it's gold! If you're having your photograph taken, your subconscious instinct may be to do exactly the opposite: to pull your head back and up. Why? Because lots of us don't like having our photos taken and without realising it, we pull back from the camera. If you do this, it's as if you're recoiling from the thing you fear. Unfortunately, this can also impact on your image in two negative ways. First, if your head tips up, your nose goes up and you may look a little haughty. Not likely to be what you want. Second, when your head goes back, all that skin around your neck will bunch up. Go on, try it now - you can feel it, right? So. If you're having a photo done, whether a business headshot or a birthday portrait or a family photo, try this instead. Push your head forward to the camera. You'll feel your neck muscles tightening as you do it. Now drop your chin, just a smidge. No, not that much! A smidge, I said. Maybe just a centimetre or half-inch. The result will be a tauter neck and a stronger chinline. It's flattering for both men and women, whatever your age or shape. Here's Chris Akrimi demonstrating how it's done and looking absolutely fabulous! 🔔 Want more photo tips? Ding my bell. 🎷 Want to talk about YOUR ideal business image? Q: What are some common mistakes to avoid during a headshot session? GSKdesign During a headshot session, it's essential to avoid distractions like overly flashy jewelry or busy patterns that can take away from your face. I also recommend steering clear of heavy makeup or hairstyles that don't reflect your everyday look, as authenticity is key. It's important to relax and be yourself, as tension can show in your expression. Additionally, try to avoid stiff poses or forced smiles—opt for natural and confident body language instead. Lastly, make sure to communicate openly with your photographer about any concerns or preferences to ensure a successful and enjoyable session. Let’s get that headshot updated: www.gskdesign.com/contact

Photo Tip Friday: How to Prepare for Your Headshots A few weeks back we discussed how first (visual) impressions matter; humans form judgements of people in photos in just a fraction of a second. So what can you do to look your best? Sleep! Turns out that "beauty rest" is a very real thing. Give yourself the gift of at least one, preferably two, good nights of full sleep (7.5+ hrs). It reduces dark circles around the eyes as well as the puffiness many of us get below the eyes. Skin complexion also evens out, and we have the energy for a more authentic smile. Next up; hydration. Make sure you're well hydrated over the 48 hours leading up to your photo session. Also, avoid alcohol if possible. Alcohol affects the face in several ways, and lowers your quality of sleep. Limit your sun! You'd be surprised how often I've had a subject mention they just got back from vacation or were playing a round of golf - but I could see it before they told me. No one wants to look three shades redder than their natural shade. Along similar lines, don't test out a new makeup or skin product the week of your photo shoot. No need for a surprise reaction. It's the little things; brush your teeth, check your clothes for wrinkles, and roll a lint roller over your top/jacket/shirt. Take a deep breath and think of the last time someone did something kind for you. Let that feeling through with a soft smile and you're going to love your new headshot! Any other tips you'd like to share? Have a question? Pop them below and let's help one another get that great image! #phototipfriday #businesstips #BRCtips #photography #letsdobetter #headshots

Montreal Headshot and Corporate Photographer - I help professionals get their dream jobs and get more clients with premium images that convey Trust, Professionalism, and Approachability.
Would you like to look confident and approachable in any picture? Let me share some secrets! Confidence comes from the eyes, approachability comes from the mouth. Make sure you nail at least that down. Eyes and mouth. That’s it for now. Unless you’re also able to individually control your ear muscles. This is the # 1 thing I taught Nouhaila. Your eyes should have a bit of a squinch to them, so you look “in control” and not like a deer in headlights. Notice the eyelids are brought slightly closer together. P.S movie stars do this a lot, Brad Pitt, Chris Pratt, etc. Your mouth should have a small subtle smile (no teeth). Subtle can be significant. Don’t over do it! Or you can have a genuine laughing smile (showing teeth). Of course there’s a lot more that goes into getting great shots, but that’s enough to get you started. Have fun practicing in a mirror and impress your colleagues on your next company photo! (or dating profile). Reach out if you would like to learn more about portraits or headshots! Have you ever heard of squinching or smizing (eye smiling) before? #Personalbranding #Gratitude #BusinessDevelopment #standoutphotography 📞 514-577-7134 ✉️ info@stefanmorisset.com
