August is Children's Eye Health and Safety Month, a special time to raise awareness of the importance to keep our children's eyes protected and ensure optimal vision. As parents, caretakers and educators, it is our responsibility to look after the health of our children's eyes and watch out for the first signs that a child may have a vision problem. It is best to have your children's eyes checked annually. Indicators of decreased vision in children: blinks often, rubs eyes, squints; bends low when studying up close; complains of fatigue, eye strain during classes; headaches after school, doing homework, reading. Children rely on their vision to learn, play and explore the world around them, so it is important that we prioritise their health and safety. By taking proactive measures and seeking appropriate help, we can ensure our children's eyes are healthy and strong. The GCT team has extensive experience in conducting research in the field of ophthalmology. What a blessing it is to work in a healthcare organization, like AdventHealth, with such incredible physicians who are doing such groundbreaking work! If you have a minute, I would invite you to click the Brian included in his original post and read the article to learn more about this life-changing procedure.
“This surgery has given me my life back.” Rene Galloway, a former nurse at AdventHealth Celebration, recently became the first person in the world to undergo a new procedure for patients who struggle with food intolerance and require IV nourishment. When Rene came to AdventHealth Central Florida gastroenterologist Dr. Kambiz Kadkhodayan, she had been on IV nutrition for months. The procedure, which Dr. K and team created, reduces problem spots in the bowel and creates a channel for food, so people like Rene can eat and digest food. What a blessing to not only have researchers and clinicians who provide existing treatments so caringly and competently but who also innovate and create new successful treatment options for patients. I’ll share a Becker's Healthcare article about the procedure in the comments below.

In our latest discussion, we shed light on critical indicators: Snoring: Beyond being a nighttime sound, persistent snoring can signify underlying airway issues with far-reaching implications for a child's holistic health. Open Mouth Posture: Consistent mouth-breathing in children might be indicative of nasal breathing difficulties, potentially signaling respiratory challenges that warrant attention. Swollen Tonsils: By assessing tonsil size through CBCT scans, we gain insight into potential sleep-disordered breathing problems, emphasizing the need for comprehensive examinations. Venous Pooling Under Eyes: Visual cues like venous pooling under the eyes offer valuable clues about compromised venous return and potential breathing issues. Prioritizing early detection and intervention is key to optimizing pediatric health outcomes. #EliteDental #PediatricHealth #AirwayConcerns #EarlyDetectionMatters
