We're thrilled to see our General Manager, Daniel Chavez, featured in Homes and Gardens 🏡 Daniel explains that, ‘Vents distribute cold air throughout your home through supply ducts, so if a home’s ducts are too small, have collapsed, or are leaking, that can limit airflow.’ He also notes that low refrigerant levels or a low blower capacitor can cause uneven cooling. Make sure your home is in tip top shape as we kick off in 2024. Here are your January Home Maintenance Tips! Start the new year right by giving your home some well-deserved care. Here are a few tips: Check Your Insulation: Ensure your home is well-insulated to keep the winter chill at bay. Check for drafts around windows and doors, and consider adding weatherstripping where needed. Fireplace Safety: If you have a fireplace, schedule a professional inspection and cleaning. It's essential for both safety and efficiency. HVAC System Check: Replace your HVAC filters to maintain a healthy indoor air quality and ensure your heating system is running smoothly. Inspect Plumbing: Look for any leaks around faucets, toilets, and under sinks. Attend to small issues promptly to prevent larger problems later. Clean Windows: Brighten up your space by cleaning windows inside and out. It's a small task that makes a big difference in natural light. Prevent Frozen Pipes: Insulate exposed pipes and consider leaving cabinet doors open on particularly cold nights to allow warm air to circulate. (more on this later!) Check Door Seals: Ensure a snug fit for your exterior doors by checking and, if necessary, replacing weatherstripping. It helps conserve energy and keep your home warm. Declutter and Organize: Start the year with a fresh and organized home. Declutter living spaces and tackle one room at a time for a stress-free start. If you found this post helpful please like, share and save this for later! Here's to a cozy and well-maintained home in 2024! #HomeMaintenance #NewYearHomeCare #JanuaryTips

Want to take your energy savings to the next level? An energy audit is a smart move. A certified auditor will assess your home from top to bottom, pinpointing areas where you’re wasting energy. They’ll check insulation, ductwork, windows, and, of course, your HVAC system. You’ll get a detailed report with recommendations to boost efficiency. Things like air sealing, extra insulation, or upgrading to Energy Star appliances. Many utility companies offer free or discounted energy audits. It’s an investment that can deliver major savings on your summer cooling bills and beyond. Airflow is just as important for your outdoor unit as it is for your indoor vents. Your condenser needs breathing room to disperse heat properly. Aim for at least two feet of clearance on all sides. Trim back any grass, weeds, or shrubs that are encroaching on the unit. And be mindful of where you put lawn furniture, potted plants, or other outdoor décor. Anything that blocks airflow can cause your AC to overheat and underperform. Would you like to read more? The different kinds of air conditioning systems to choose from There are several varieties of air conditioning systems that are appropriate for home usage, and each has pros and downsides of its own Central Air Conditioning One of the most popular kinds of air conditioning systems for houses is this one. It is made up of a central unit that uses a network of vents and ducts placed all throughout the house to circulate cold air. Larger homes typically favour central air conditioning because of its reputation for consistently delivering cool air to every room. Ductless Mini-Split Systems These systems are perfect for houses without ducts or for adding rooms where it would not be possible to extend the ducts. A wall- or ceiling-mounted outside compressor unit and one or more inside air-handling units make up a mini-split system. They provide zoning flexibility, enabling the independent cooling of several rooms for individual comfort. Window Air Conditioners Window units are standalone devices that fit right into a window aperture. They are an affordable choice for tiny residences or individual rooms to be cooled. On the other hand, they might block window views and natural light, and they might use more energy than central or ductless systems. Portable Air Conditioners These units work well in flats or houses where permanent installation is not an option because they are portable and simple to transfer from room to room. Hot air from portable air conditioners is usually vented through an exhaust pipe or a window. Although practical, their efficiency might not match that of other kinds of systems, and they work best in limited areas. Evaporative (Swamp) Coolers Evaporative coolers, which are popular in arid regions, function by pushing heated air through pads saturated with water, allowing the water to evaporate, and then redistributing the cooled air back into the living area. Although they can effectively chill spaces and use less energy, they need to be maintained frequently and are not appropriate for humid areas. #property #aircon #home
