Trauma-Informed Care Subject Matter Expert, Trainer & Speaker | Award Winning Social Worker & Certified Coach | Adjunct Professor | Podcast Host of A Trauma-Informed Future
I was invited to a big hospital system in Columbus today training residents on trauma-mindful medicine. I’m always delighted to work with healthcare systems who desire to prioritize and integrate trauma-informed care. Here are a few key elements of applying trauma-informed care in healthcare settings: 🔑BE MINDFUL that every patient is a full whole human which includes their lived experiences and intersection of identities which may include medical stress and trauma 🔑PRACTICE THE PAUSE in a fast paced environment find ways to pause so you can align your intentions and impact to resist harm and promote all types of safety 🔑SHIFT YOUR LANGUAGE take small shifts towards building trust by being mindful of jargon and don’t forget to actively listen. 🔑PACE YOURSELF 15 minute visits are tough to get it all in but you can still be mindful of the pace and check in with patients to make sure you’re not flooding them. Simple shifts can mean lasting impact. Trauma-informed care can not only improve patient experience, engagement and outcomes, it can also have the same impact on the workforce providing this care. It’s a culture shift but one we can’t afford to wait to adopt. This is my passion. And if you want me to bring these principles to your workplace, let’s talk. https://lnkd.in/gUQ9Mbpi #healthcare #healthcareleadership #trauma #traumainformed #traumainformedcare #traumainformedleadership #patientexperience

The NHS landscape this week showcases both positive developments and areas for thoughtful consideration: ✅ Points of development: 🔷Torbay NHS Trust's new endoscopy training facility is a welcome sign of investment in critical services. 🔷Continued awareness for the Op COURAGE Service ensures veterans access to specialised mental health support. ⚠️ But, there are points of caution… 🔷Concerns about the Foundation Programme changes highlight the delicate balance between innovation and workforce stability. 🔷Clinician burnout amidst GP Access Recovery Plan progress emphasises the need for sustainable solutions. At Health Now, we believe clinical insourcing plays a key role in addressing these challenges: 🔷By strategically sourcing qualified staff, we help healthcare providers fill resource gaps without compromising on quality. 🔷Our flexible solutions adapt to specific needs, supporting long-term workforce stability and staff well-being. 🔷Our focus on experienced professionals ensures seamless integration and improved patient care. #NHSheroes #PatientCare #SustainableHealthcare #MedicalInsourcing

Did you know it is Patient Experience Week? Patient Experience Week (April 29 - May 3, 2024) is a dedicated time to honor the individuals who continuously contribute to enhancing patient experiences, recharging our energies, and fostering inspiration. The phrase 'It takes a village to raise a child' extends seamlessly into healthcare, where everyone involved in patient care contributes to the patient experience. Each person plays a vital role in creating a safe, healthy environment for patients to heal and thrive. I want to express my gratitude to all those who support patients. After working at the bedside for 15 years, I know firsthand how invaluable your dedication and contributions are in ensuring patients receive the best care. I am passionate about patient advocacy and supporting those who support patients. AI is the only systematic way to expand the scarcest resource in the hospital - the clinical attention of caregivers. LookDeep Health uses AI to provide a complete virtual care platform that expands the resources hospitals have to observe and care for patients and bring attention back to the patient. https://lookdeep.health Consider visiting the Patient Experience Network which highlights Patient Experience Week and Happy National Nurses Month to all the #nurses! https://lnkd.in/g-d2h2Qm #PEW2024 #PXWeek #PatExp #Healthcare #AI #Patients
