It's Construction Safety Week, and in today's discussion on enhancing job site safety, we're focusing on a crucial aspect: notification. The importance of notification becomes clear through the story of Curtis Reissig who, in 2014, risked his own safety to alert his colleagues of impending danger on a construction site. Tragically, he became trapped in the process. Compliance with OSHA regulations 1926.150 and 1910.165, which mandate site-wide evacuation systems, could have prevented this incident. Ensuring effective notification systems are in place is essential for the safety of the workforce on these large sites.

Remember ! A construction site is different from a pharmacy or a book shop. So it can not be beautifully arranged and maintained like a pharmacy or a book shop. The priority must remain the protection of 1: People. 2: Environment. 3: Assets. 4: Reputation. There should be more focus on Working at height, Confined space, Open floors , Edge protections, working platforms , Power tools, Deep excavations , Ladder safety, Scaffoldings ,Simultaneous operations , live overhead, Underground municipal services , Environmental pollutions , Welfare facilities , Availability and compliance with PPE , Health surveillance, Inspections ,Audits ,Training , supervision, documentation and HOUSEKEEPING. But I believe we should be more focused on developing a positive HSE Culture , which will ultimately lead to the above. Add your points which I missed.

It’s Construction Safety week but here at Salute we make safety first and foremost every day! Whether it is collaborating with a General Contractor on a mission critical build or performing operations at our end user client or project based assistance at a facility nationwide, Safety first and foremost ALWAYS! We work hand in hand with each client’s EHS Director and other stakeholders to support the implementation of administrative processes and procedures. Continuously conduct routine assessments to identify workplace hazards, recommend corrective actions, and verify proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) usage. All Salute personnel receive onboarding and continuous EHS training to ensure understanding of protocols. Each employee is empowered with Stop Work authority in the event of witnessing an unsafe activity. In conjunction with Blake Cooper (CSSMBB) our site leaders will work with our clients to investigate incidents and near-misses, determine root causes, and implement preventative actions. We work to mitigate any incidents by implementing regular safety meetings and toolbox talks to communicate important safety information and promote a culture of safety. #constructionsafetyweek #safetyfirstsafetyalways #safetyculture #missioncritical #salute

Competence Assessment Extension for Building Control Inspectors and Approvers Announced by BSR A crucial update regarding the competency assessments for building control inspectors and approvers was announced today by BSR. Key points are: Competence Assessment Extension Announced: Building Control professionals have been granted a temporary extension for competence assessment. This decision comes as a supportive measure to ensure professionals are well-prepared to meet the new standards. Who's Eligible?: This extension applies to professionals already engaged in the field, registered as a Class 1 RBI by April 6th 2024, and currently undergoing competency assessment in an approved scheme. Important Dates: Eligible candidates have until July 6th 2024, to complete their assessments and upgrade their registration. This period allows for continued work in building control while completing the necessary competency upgrades. No Further Extensions: It’s critical to note, this is a one-time extension. Professionals who do not complete their assessment by the July deadline will no longer be eligible to undertake regulated building control activities.
