Super excited to share that we created a fun tool last week at the Wistia hackathon called Webcam Grader.
It's simple: just take a quick photo with your webcam, and it gives you a grade along with specific feedback on how to improve your appearance on camera.
Please give this a shot, let us know if it is useful, and share your score. This will help us refine it further going forward.

Recently I participated in SIH's internal hackathon.
It was more like the ideation phase of a project.
Our problem statement was to do something to identify defects in the Science Museum's machines. We came up with a solution to make a robotic bird that would analyze thermal defects by thermal sensors, and internal effects by radiography, and visual defects by computer vision.
Things I learned regarding teamwork and management from it.
1) In teamwork don’t be yes yes use Critical Thinking and Analysis to see what other people would see, and mistakes around them and discuss them with teammates and improve them.
2) If you have assigned work to someone don't look at what he is doing, it would give you stress.
Look at the progress over time. Give your mates time.

Generalizability and validity are essential aspects of research, ensuring findings can be applied to broader contexts and accurately measure the intended constructs.
High generalizability means results are applicable to diverse populations and settings, while validity guarantees the study's accuracy and credibility. However, original research may be devalued after replication attempts if subsequent studies fail to reproduce the findings, leading to skepticism about the initial results. This devaluation, influenced by replication failures, publication bias, and context-specific results, underscores the importance of robust and transparent research practices to uphold scientific integrity.
It is important to note that this does not imply the original research lacked validity, rather, it had internal validity and should be valued, provided the methods used were empirical and sound.
"All research is valid."
Wondering how?
Pauline Wanjeri shares key insights from the hackathon, “Transforming how we view boundary conditions: from limitations to genuine discoveries crucial for building a replicable, cumulative science” led by Yuichi Shoda and Jasmine Zhu during the #SIPS2024 conference.
don't sleep on what's happening with robots
there's plug and play AI being developed that will be deployable and integratable into 3d printed robotics
a humanoid robot for 20 thousand dollars, available for monthly financing, will be commonplace within a few years at most
before then it'll will be possible to create ad hoc custom 3d printed robotics solutions
that's one of the new industries that is being imagined right now so if you're thinking about what to do next you could consider that paradigm shift as a launching point

Stupid Hackathon is growing up!
This is a strange experience for me, let me tell you the story.
Many moons ago I set up the first Stupid Hackathon Sweden over at Earth People (and later at Internetstiftelsen). It's always been immensely fun. Over the years I've also been able to invite some brands I was working with at the time, such as teenage engineering, Mathem, Comviq, And The Revolution and many more, who strangely enough always have understood what it all was about and played along. Last year SBAB played jury and gave out their prize (a rubik's cube with the same color on all sides) to their favorite (a muesli sorting machine built by someone who hated raisins).
I've also set up micro-versions of Stupid Hackathon for Regeringskansliet, Utrikesdepartementet, Meepo and Berghs School of Communication. It's indeed strange that so many people actively seem to want to explore this creative space, and Stupid Hackathon has over the years become something I and others refer to. It's become some kind of thing.
This November, Stupid Hackathon is evolving into a nationwide movement! It will take place in several cities in Sweden at once, with all cities acting autonomously. We share the common goal of being a hackathon for terrible ideas and we do it simultaneously over the course of 8'ish hours. From Try New Things multimedia studio in Skellefteå we'll set up some kind of TV studio in which we frame the event with an intro and an outro. IcaX is sponsoring with prizes and it's just really lovely to co-create this thing together with so many others.
As of writing, we have events in Stockholm, Skellefteå, Norrköping and Karlstad and more TBC. If you have access to a space and/or is part of a community who would enjoy this — please reach out! The more the merrier.
Ok wow that's a lot of text. I'm so happy about this, and well... in general. Cheerio.
