For jets in hypersonic crossflows, as seen for fuel injection in hypersonic aircraft, how do the wall temperatures influence the fluid dynamics? This is an important question for understanding the performance of hypersonic vehicles which we cover in the first publication of my PhD, published in Physics of Fluids. CONVERGE CFD software is a three-dimensional fluid flow simulation tool that includes features like autonomous meshing, complex moving geometries, a chemical kinetics solver, advanced physical models, conjugate heat transfer model, fluid structure interaction/FSI, and a volume of fluid (VOF) tool. It played a significant role in the development, simulation, and optimization of IFPEN's experimental heavy-duty hydrogen combustion engine. The software models used in the engine include ISSIM for ignition, TKI for auto-ignition and knock prediction, and ECFM for premixed flame propagation. A new turbulent stretch model, LPF, showed good agreement with DNS results for both Le>1 and Le<1 mixtures in flamelet and Thickened Reaction Zone regimes.
