National Cheer Safety Month is powered by TrueSport, and the weekly theme of Injury Prevention includes resources from the August articles available now! In doing our part as families and caregivers of athletes, we know that sports are hugely beneficial to children and young adults from both a physical and mental standpoint. But sometimes, the sport systems that are in place don’t promote the healthiest practices for all athletes—and that can be difficult for families in youth sports to navigate. In the article titled, "What can sports families do to build healthy athletes?" Tom Farrey, the founder and executive director of the Aspen Institute’s Sports & Society Program, explains the issues facing youth sport in the U.S. today, and how parents can best help foster a love of sport for their young athletes. Read the article here: https://lnkd.in/gR2EDKN6 Follow along with USA Cheer and STUNT as we share helpful resources on Injury Prevention all week and #CheerSafety all month long. #NCSM #STUNTtheSport

As the school holidays draw to a close, children statewide are eager to resume team sports. 💪 Say Goodbye to Weak Bones and Wobbly Legs! 🌟 Discover the Secret to Staying Strong & Active at Any Age—No Matter How Old You Are! 🏋️♀️
Imagine this: every year, two million young athletes in the U.S. get hurt while playing sports. That’s a lot of scraped knees, twisted ankles, and broken bones! 😟 It’s like a giant wave sweeping through high schools, affecting so many kids who just want to have fun and play hard. Let’s talk about who’s getting hurt. Studies tell us that 1 in 5 visits to the emergency room for kids happen because of a sports injury. That’s like every fifth kid in the waiting room with a cast, crutches, or an ice pack! And when these young athletes visit their doctors, sports injuries top the list of reasons why. But who’s most at risk? 🧐 The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) did a big study and found that boys are more likely to get hurt, especially those aged 10 to 14. This is the time when they’re growing fast, learning new skills, and pushing their limits on the field or court. So, what can we do to help keep these young champions safe? Here are some golden rules to follow: 1. Warm Up and Stretch 🧘: Just like a car needs warming up, so do muscles! Stretch before every game to get those muscles ready to go. 2. Wear Proper Gear 🛡️: Helmets, pads, and good shoes aren’t just for looks. They protect your body, so always gear up! 3. Follow the Rules 📜: Rules aren’t just there to win, but to keep everyone safe. Play fair and play safe. 4. Listen to Your Body 🗣️: If something hurts, stop and tell an adult. Pushing through pain can make injuries worse. 5. Rest and Recover 🛌: Muscles need time to heal. Rest is as important as training. Take breaks and sleep well to stay strong. Remember, sports are great! They build teamwork, strength, and spirit. But just like a superhero needs to know their limits, athletes should play smart to stay safe. With the right care and attention, young athletes can keep playing the sports they love, without the fear of getting hurt. Play smart, stay strong, and keep shining on the field! 🌟 #SportsSafety #YouthAthletes #InjuryPrevention #PlaySmart #StayStrong #YouthSports #SportsInjuries #SafeSports #HealthyKids #SportsGear #WarmUp #SportsMedicine #KidsHealth #SafePlay #ActiveKids

Without treatment, children with clubfoot experience lifelong difficulties, including pain, difficulty walking and exclusion from education and social activities. However, with timely and effective treatment, children can lead normal, active lives. Building a Safer Sporting Future Together This #NationalBrainInjuryAwareness Month, let's shift the conversation. 🧠💡 Concussions aren't just statistics. They're real issues affecting real lives. Lives of young athletes who dream big. Who give their all on the field, in the pool, on the court. Why focus on concussion awareness and prevention? Because knowledge is power. Because understanding leads to action. And action can change futures. Every sport carries risks. And our responsibility as fans, as coaches, as players, and as parents? To mitigate those risks. To ensure that love for the game doesn't cost an athlete their health. Preventing concussions isn't just about following rules. It's about fostering environments where safety is as important as scoring the next goal or touchdown. We need a culture shift. A world where athletes feel empowered to speak up about their injuries. Where they receive the support and care they need to heal properly. Let's use this month to make a commitment. To educate, advocate, and protect. Because every athlete deserves to play safe and stay healthy. Awareness is the first step. Let's take it together. #PlayersHealth
