This interesting thought from Nikhil (refer below repost) is precisely the crux of Chapter 9 (Value - Reflect of Morality) from the book “The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson” In this chapter Mark quotes Ernest Becker's book “The Denial of Death” to highlight the significance of death in our lives as well as the reasons why we are so terrified of it. The anthropologist claims that there are two primary causes that form the basis of our anxiety about dying. The first type is called death panic and is brought on by our propensity to see ourselves in fictitious circumstances. This is a property that distinguishes humans from other animals, meaning that it is one of our unique qualities. Even still, the ability to picture ourselves in various scenarios eventually causes a profound kind of worry since, despite the abundance of options, we are unsure of how things will turn out. The book also makes reference to the immortality initiatives as another justification. We encompass the physical component. There is another self, referred to as the conceptual self, but that part is recognized as the mortal one. We want our names on buildings and books so badly because it will guarantee that we won't be forgotten even when we pass away. The exact reason for all of the anxiety and failure-related feelings is this. We usually live to be eternal, which we all know is not true.
