It is always about the people.   As a People Partner my focus is on people, their relationships, interactions, and employee satisfaction.   If you want to have a deep connection with your key assets, your staff is where your focus has to be.   At the beginning of this year FRAMOS launched a new product FSM:GO optical sensor modules. While I am not involved in the product and the launch, it was amazing to see it all come together.   I saw how many great collaborations between employees were needed to get this product launched. I was impressed and proud.   So… at the end what was my conclusion?   Focus on collaboration, and teamwork then enjoy the magic.   If you want to see that magic, check out the video below.   #FRAMOS #people #collaboration #teamspirit

Back to the book that I'm reading now, "Start with Why" by Simon Sinek. Currently I'm reading about the turnaround that Continental Airlines had in 1994, which was steered by Gordon Bethune. Continental's turnaround was just phenomenal. It was purely a magic, no one back then would have believed that such a turnaround was ever possible. The company that was on a free fall for over 14 years, the one that was not liked by it's own staff and it's customers, did a U-Turn and went on to become profitable in a just 12 months, yes you read it right, within 12 MONTHS. Everything happened because of the same people who were not liking it till then. Until Bethune arrived, the company executives were all busy in working out of the 20th Floor in Continental Airlines HQ. Trust, the key factor that was missing in the whole organisation and it was instilled once Bethune came in. The "Customer in 9C Seat" brought in the much needed empathy and the "Go Forward Plan" was executed meticulously. Never Stop Looking for Improvement: "If it’s working fine, why mess with it? Well, whatever “it” is may work just fine, but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t be better. This idea came to me as I read an article about United Airlines changing the way passengers board the plane. Most airlines put passengers in groups and call them in order. United will continue doing this but make changes to some of the groups. First-class passengers and higher-level frequent fliers won’t notice, but there will be a change once Group 4 is called. Passengers with window seats will board first, followed by passengers in middle seats, and eventually, passengers with aisle seats. This new process will save two minutes. Now, you might be thinking, “Two minutes. Big deal!” But, in the airline business, two minutes is a big deal. Probably one of the best executive profiles I've seen in awhile and a good read for those in trucking industry. Having worked for Joe Vitiritto in the past there is no doubt he was well prepared to take over at PAM Transport. Joe mentions a couple really important aspects of leadership I think worth mentioning. - Culture must be lived. "I'm a big culture guy, but you've got to have a culture you live everyday, not a bunch of words, and it's got to be executed at the individual manager level." - A vision where the value of individual contribution can be communicated. "When I came in I saw we needed to more of what the previous CEO had been working on and we needed to believe that we could run this business and grow the business more profitably than had ever been done." Joe doesn't sugar coat the industry either and like many of us know, trucking isn't for the faint of heart. I appreciated his focus on connecting what the company had historically done well, automotive, and pushed the accomplishments of all the other verticals they were doing well in to get customers on board and to see them as more than an automotive carrier. What a start to the half term as we once again broke another record not only for London's Pride but Fuller's itself. So proud of every single team member, every single transaction makes such a massive difference as the fiscal year is onto a great start, literally running (& not with scissors). why would you transform a vehicle without transforming the driver? This was my question as I engaged other team members working on the transformation program in my organization with focus on the processes and operational efficiency. Seeking answer to my question; a cabin appearance officer picked up a ten thousand dollars while on duty and returned it to the airline.This became a trending news beyond the organization. The officer got a cash gift and promotion as a reward for his integrity. The effect of this reward is a new culture that any transformation program may not immediately address. why? #Rewarding excellence and acts that align with an organization's core values promotes a healthy organizational culture. Sitting around with a few old heads over the weekend, I get asked "what about this NS take over?" So I explain it, in my best Chiraq analogy. "its like a Cubs" Owner says to the GM, "I'm tired of losing, we gotta will a championship this year, we gotta compete!" GM says "Boss, we got the right team, got a great strategy, the best game plan, gonna sell more tickets" Months go by, still losing, nothing changes. Owner to GM, "we need to sit down and make some changes" GM, " boss, I hear you, we got this strategy, we got this team, its gonna take some time, but people are gonna love us" Months go by, still losing, nothing changes. GM to the Boss, "hey we fired the coach, he was the problem, we hired this guy, he has some anger issues, even a few cases, paid a ton of money, he hasn't done to much, he made up this imaginary game plan, he watched Money Ball." That's the NS Strategy, we got a kick out of it. I don't even know PSR, but what I do know, you cant keep talking out of both sides of your mouth and expect people to keep believing you. #railroad #railway #CEO #rail #railindustry
