An excellent article by Chris Stabler outlining the potential uses of constraints led approaches (CLA). I believe CLA is an outstanding method of engaging large groups whilst being able to constantly adapt the session based on observations made by the coaching team. However, as Chris touched on, CLA is a non linear approach to pedagogy and should be treated as such. It is vital the coaching team maintain the use of such constructivist approaches and allow the players to solve the problems as a collective, without too much external feedback. This process often takes time and requires patience from all parties to allow those to develop at differing rates, however in my opinion and experience the players learning is often more profound through this method. #coaching #pedagogy #development #CLA #rugbyunion

Club managers who are cup specialists may make better international coaches than proven league winners. International coaching is more about getting the tactics right in every game with little room for error. League football is a marathon while cup competitions are a series of sprints. In my presentation, I made a very high-level comparison of data & video analysis market in tennis and other sports. Two main conclusions from that topic: 1) Though we are used to thinking that tennis is far behind, the situation is actually not that bad. We all made good progress over the last 2 years. 2) The lack of a unified approach and data standards is a common issue for the whole sports analytics industry. But this variety of different companies with their own unique metrics and analysis methods also creates competition that drives the industry. And as a result, more and more great tools and services appear. 📌I also want to share the key takeaways from my last slide. Those are a sort of general recommendations to the main stakeholders in the world of tennis. 💼For tennis federations and governing bodies: - Invest more into infrastructure (equip courts with cameras)  - Make video streaming and video recording a must-have even for junior tournaments - Create educational programs /courses for coaches about tennis analytics 👨💻For tennis analysts: - Explain metrics, provide context behind the stats - Visualize data (heatmaps, shot charts, simple UX/UI) - Add physical performance analysis (integrate physical and tactical data for more holistic view of player performance) - Use AI and predictive analysis to help coaches, but not to replace their expertise and vision 🎾For players, coaches and parents: - Start using data and video analysis at a younger age, and make it a part of player development process.
