Independence Day (4th of July) Also called the Fourth of July; Independence Day marks the historic date in 1776 when the Declaration of Independence was approved by the Continental Congress. The written declaration stated that the American colonies were tired of being ruled by Great Britain. They wanted to become their own country. For those of you who live in California, San Jose and in particularly in Communications Hill, it’s a time to enjoy the holiday with friends, relatives and neighbors.
If you’re going to party, whether it be at home, in a public or social event away from home, we ask that you be responsible, be responsible around others, be responsible when you drink and know when NOT get behind the wheel of a motor vehicle for your own safety and the safety of others in your car or on the street in their vehicles.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) will deploy a special holiday high visibility maximum enforcement period beginning next week and extending through the 4th of July weekend. In addition, SJPD, SCSO, and HPD will begin increased patrols beginning tomorrow Sunday and Saturation Patrols starting on Wednesday July 3rd and continuing through the holiday weekend. He also went on to say that all law enforcement departments, (SJPD, SCSO, SJFD and HPD) and have adopted a ZERO TOLERANCE position for offenders which will include arrests for DWI, DUI, Distracted Driving, Arson, Vandalism, Trespassing, and other property related crimes.
