I continue to get asked the sensible question of "What's the market like"? It's interesting! The good news is that there are positive signs in the market at the CFO level. I have been super-active recently, meeting numerous private equity houses and the general consensus is that the market remains constipated. After that lovely analogy, when questioned, it seems that deals are taking longer to execute and companies still have very ambitious valuations, meaning a number of deals have struggled to transact. Investment partners, in some cases, where fund-raising has been successful, have been very active since Easter and they continue to need Vikki Searls for interim, pre and post-deal activities. On the search side, I have noticed a small increase in CFO mandates in Q2 vs Q1 due to frustrated CFO's moving on from their companies, because their equity is under water and the exit timelines have been pushed further afield by a couple of years.   In the larger companies that I partner, there are increasing demands for technically astute FD's/CFO's and that has had a trickle-down effect. There are fewer commercially minded roles out there, frustratingly.   Obviously each roles has its nuances and sector experience, or prior PE knowledge continues to be a continuous pre-requisite. In my 19 years of career, this was by far THE MOST DIFFICULT TASK I ever handled THE IPO There have been many complex tasks but working on getting the company listed topped them all I was a part of the direct CFO reporting team working to prepare for the listing. • Multitude of complex regulatory requirements. • Ensuring that financial statements and disclosures were accurate, transparent and in compliance. • Significant amount of time went into conducting financial audits, due diligence and preparing the required documentation. • Working closely with underwriters, legal teams required substantial time and energy. But despite all of that, the maximum pleasure also came out of the success of managing the most difficult task. → The sense of achievement → Building of tenacity → The recognition → The validation → & the joy Dont shy away from the difficult of tasks, from there will emanate the greatest of joy and satisfaction #Difficult #Happiness
