Well done to the architects, builders, owners, and producers for explaining Passivhaus in a simple video. After all, a Passivhaus building will not significantly increase the building cost but will start reaping benefits from day one. As the builder said at the end, we have to be open to continuing to improve and make things differently.
Discover how Passive House design is a powerful solution to the climate crisis in a new short film, In Pursuit of Passive! The film, produced by FISHER CREATIVE, follows the construction of a #PassiveHouse in the Grand Tetons-Yellowstone region, showcasing not only cutting-edge, sustainable building techniques but also the economic and health benefits for homeowners. After the premiere at the 27th International Passive House Conference, the short film is now available on Fisher Creative's YouTube channel: https://lnkd.in/g7ac_rHb

Amsterdam’s canal houses are an iconic example of rigid planning and standardization. Built in rapid succession, they were among the first large-scale standardized constructions. While their uniformity created a visually cohesive cityscape, it also erased much of the "wiggle room" that organic growth offers. Wiggle Room Theory suggests that systems thrive when there’s flexibility for adaptation and evolution. The canal belt, by contrast, was frozen in time—its original purpose lost, its growth stunted by preservation efforts. It survives today as a museum piece, not as a living, breathing urban space. What would Amsterdam look like if its canals were allowed to grow organically, adapting to the needs of modern life? Could we apply the lessons of Wiggle Room Theory to urban planning, creating spaces that balance structure with flexibility? Rigid systems may last, but flexible ones evolve—and that’s what makes them truly alive.

Why is architectural heritage so undervalued in Ireland? When it brings so much to society, from sense of place, to vitality, wellbeing, boost to local economy, tourism and much more. And while the most sustainable building is the existing. When will we learn? #DerelictIreland #HeritageMatters #CorkCity
4 years later still a car park. Sadly this accurately reflects how we treat our architectural heritage in Ireland. Welcome to #DerelictIreland.

In 2021, a Developer warned the city that they would leave a large central site vacant for yeas if they didn't get planning for highrise offices* The Developer got their planning but ... Guess What??? The site has been left empty 3 years since they got their planning Yes there are plans now to build social homes instead, but why was a local independent pub shut down and demolished overnight** just to be unused for over 5 years. JCD Group said "This leaves us with two options: leave the site vacant for the next few years in the hope that something changes to make the apartment scheme workable, or put this strategically located site to an alternative use in keeping with the wider ambition for the redevelopment of Cork’s Docklands.” *They decided to build offices despite the office market having already collapsed, leaving Cork City with some of the highest vacancy rates in Europe. **A reminder that the 150 year old Sextant was so hastily demolished in 2020, that it appeared everything from the pub was still inside. #DerelictIreland #VacantIreland #RestPlayWork
