Food safety is a critical concern in today's globalized world. Ensuring the food we consume is safe from farm to fork is essential for public health and well-being. This involves rigorous standards at every stage of the supply chain, from production and processing to distribution and consumption. Key measures include maintaining hygiene, proper storage, and handling practices to prevent contamination. Regular inspections, certifications, and adherence to regulations are vital. Equally important is the education and training of those involved in food preparation and service. Advancements in technology, such as blockchain for traceability and AI for quality control, are revolutionizing food safety protocols. These innovations not only enhance efficiency but also build consumer trust. As we continue to evolve in this field, collaboration among industry stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and consumers is crucial. By prioritizing food safety, we protect public health, enhance food security, and foster a more sustainable food system. #FoodSafety #PublicHealth #FoodIndustry #Sustainability #Innovation #QualityControl

“Blockchain's immutability lends to trust, which is crucial in food safety.” Judson Sinton, CEO of The Bloomington Group Ltd. Last week's Food Traceability Summit brought together industry leaders, regulatory experts, and innovators to discuss the current state and future of food safety. With next-generation retailers, producers, and suppliers facing unprecedented complexity and questions, the Summit raised some important concerns. How are your customers engaging with your product beyond the label? What is your GenZ and GenAlpha strategy for social engagement and authenticity? Are you prepared for the next industry Black Swan event? How secure is your data? And finally, how can you increase profitability on house brands? IBM leads the way in balancing consumer confidence, safety, and business profitability. The Summit provided a baseline, and now it's time to take your enterprise to the next level. Why We Need Authentic and Transparent Traceability in Food Supply Chains In today's world, consumers are more conscious than ever about where their food comes from. But how can you trust what's on your plate if you don't know its journey? That's where authentic and transparent traceability in food systems comes in. Traceability means you can track every step of your food's journey—from farm to fork. This isn't just about knowing where your food was grown; it’s about understanding how it was produced, who was involved, and the environmental impact it had. Options for Traceability: - Blockchain Technology: Provides an unchangeable record of every transaction, ensuring data integrity. - QR Codes on Packaging: Scan to see detailed information about the product's origin, including farming practices and transportation. - Certified Labels: Look for certifications like Fair Trade, Organic, and others that guarantee certain standards. Benefits to Consumers: - Informed Choices: Know exactly what you're eating and support brands that align with your values. - Food Safety: Quickly identify the source of contamination in case of a foodborne illness outbreak. - Sustainability: Opt for products with a lower environmental footprint and better ethical practices. Transparent traceability empowers you to make healthier, safer, and more ethical choices. Let’s demand accountability and ensure that our consumption supports a better world. #Traceability #FoodTransparency #SustainableChoices #KnowYourFood #EthicalEating #supplychain #sustainability #foodsystems #farmers #SupportFarmers #SustainableFuture via Food Dive https://lnkd.in/es2r62Dh

The recent inspection by the Food & Safety Standards Association of India (#FSSAI) at Blinkit’s warehouse near Hyderabad has revealed multiple violations. This is not the first incident. Every week, one or the other incident is highlighted. This raises serious concerns about food safety. We need to leverage the potential of emerging technologies for ensuring food safety. Some pointers that can be considered to build transparent systems are: 👉 Food recalls are on the rise. Companies must become ‘recall ready’ and should ensure swift response to protect the consumers at all costs. 👉 Technology such as #blockchain can be a game-changer in managing food recalls. This is why traceability systems are so essential today. 👉 Stricter packaging norms and adequate labelling are the need of the hour especially in today’s time when mislabeling, contamination, and product tampering have become a norm. 👉 Last but not least, prioritizing a food safety culture is essential for consumers and the success of food businesses. This culture needs to pervade the daily operations, communications, and training, in the very core of the businesses. #foodsafety #traceability #consumerawareness #blockchaintechnology FSSAI Publication FAO

🚨 👀 What an interesting post from EIT Food 🎉 #HorizonEU #HorizonStatsEU #EUFunded #EUMissions #EFF_CoP #FoodFraud #FoodSafety #foodauthenticity #Sustainability #ConsumerAwareness #Horizon #innovation #research
Food fraud takes many forms, from diluting beverages to mislabelling allergens, damaging the agrifood industry and harming consumers and businesses. It costs the economy an estimated €8-€12 billion annually. 💸 In Europe, the highest rates of food adulteration are reported in Spain, Italy, and the Netherlands, with products like fats, oils, fish, meat, and poultry being most affected. Alarmingly, only 40% of Europeans trust the authenticity of their food, as highlighted in our Trust Report. 🐟🍗 Tackling food fraud requires collaboration across the agrifood industry and the use of technologies such as blockchain. For example, EIT Food RisingFoodStars SwissDeCode has developed a DNA test to verify food authenticity and prevent fraudulent products from entering the supply chain. 🔬 Raising awareness about how to identify food fraud is another way to reduce risks and increase confidence. Education initiatives such as our online courses give consumers and stakeholders the chance to learn more about trust, food safety and the complexity of supply chains. 📚 How can we collaborate to reduce food fraud, improve consumer trust and make the food system safer? 🌍 https://lnkd.in/dt_tY2pj #ImprovingFoodTogether #FutureOfFood #SustainableFood #RegenerativeFoodSystems

Every June 7th, we celebrate World Food Safety Day, a vital initiative by the WHO and FAO. This day emphasizes the importance of food safety in protecting health and promoting sustainable development. 🌍 Food safety involves proper handling, preparation, and storage to prevent foodborne illnesses, which affect 1 in 10 people globally each year, especially young children. This year’s theme, “Food Standards Save Lives,” underscores the importance of adhering to established food safety standards. These guidelines ensure food is safe, healthy, and fairly traded, protecting consumer health and enhancing food security. 🛡️🍽️ Promoting food safety requires a collective effort. Farmers, producers, and manufacturers must follow best practices to minimize contamination risks. Governments should enforce stringent food safety regulations and conduct regular inspections. Consumers must adopt safe food handling practices, such as washing hands, cooking meat thoroughly, and avoiding cross-contamination. 🧼🍴 Technological advancements, like blockchain, IoT, and AI, play a significant role in improving food safety by enhancing traceability, monitoring conditions, and predicting risks. 💡🌾🔗 On World Food Safety Day, let’s commit to ensuring safe, healthy, and sustainable food for all, safeguarding our health and securing a brighter future. 🌟🍏 #WorldFoodSafetyDay #FoodSafety #SafeFood #PublicHealth #SustainableDevelopment #GlobalHealth #Innovation #FoodStandards #HealthAndWellbeing
