Freedom is a free and confidential fostering service we run for dogs owned by people experiencing domestic abuse. Today people all over are donating to causes they care about, and we're counting on the kindness of our community to help us continue to provide a better future for senior dogs. There's no better day to show your support than today, when all donations will be matched to up to $5,000 by a generous anonymous donor. Abandoned, overlooked, or surrendered due to circumstances beyond their control, senior dogs often find themselves in need of a second chance. At Rescue City, we refuse to let age be a barrier and open our arms to dogs of all ages. We commit to saving senior dogs from many of our partner shelters or owner surrenders and placing them into homes where they will know endless love and comfort. This year alone, we welcomed 40 senior dogs into our care. But here is our harsh reality: the expenses for caring for senior dogs' quickly pile up from routine check-ups to emergency visits, medications, and fostering supplies. Many of the senior dogs in our care need life saving surgeries, dental procedures and ongoing medication. This year, caring for our 40 senior dogs cost over $35,000 in medical bills alone. Donations to our Senior Dog Fund will also help cover the adoption fees for seniors facing financial hardships who are looking to adopt a furry senior pet. Our goal with our end-of-year ask is to grow both our medical funds for our older dogs and aid seniors yearning to adopt. 🐾 Celebrate International Assistance Dog Week! 🐾 This Sunday, we begin International Assistance Dog Week, honoring the incredible assistance dogs who transform lives with their dedication and intelligence. These remarkable dogs are trained to support individuals with disabilities, enhancing their independence and quality of life. Did you know that assistance dogs can be trained for various roles, including guide dogs for the visually impaired, hearing dogs for the deaf, mobility assistance dogs, and medical alert dogs? These dogs not only provide practical help but also offer emotional support and companionship. How can you celebrate? Consider supporting organizations that train and place assistance dogs by donating or volunteering. PSA for the day: Meet "Luna"...short for lunatic 😂 who is my newest rescue addition to our family! As a few of you are aware, I'm a big dog rescue person and sadly, shelters are overflowing. Again. Everywhere. Please consider the following for your office and events...1) Establish a regular "escape" day where these shelter dogs can come to your office for walks and play. 2)Partner with local shelters where your events are held to bring dogs over for a break for your attendees. 3) Create vouchers where employees/customers can take shelter dogs out for Pup Cups (many venues have coffee places:) 4) Develop a reward system where your employees and/or customers can earn points towards gifts for helping shelter pets. 5) Donations, donations, donations (shelters need everything right now). This is a super way to DO GOOD and help your mental health along with the pups! Thanks for listening and have a super weekend 🐶
