This May, I'll be running the UTA100 for Rare Cancers Australia. Rare cancers Australia supports Australians with rare or less common cancers. These cancers are difficult to treat, and some may have no treatment options at all. Although termed rare cancers, when these are summed together, they account for 52,000 diagnoses of cancer in Australia each year and cause 69 deaths per day. Breakthrough in #prostatecancer The introduction of #zydus ' unique oral once-daily treatment for advanced prostate cancer in India makes me very happy. Rexigo (relugolix) was introduced by #zydus at a monthly cost of Rs 6,995 (USD 84.22), which is 50% less expensive than injectable options. It provides quick suppression of testosterone and a superior safety profile for adverse events connected to the heart. Relugolix, a relatively inexpensive medication from #zydus, will be made available to treat a growing number of instances; by 2025, it is anticipated that over 47,000 cases will be treated. The availability in India can considerably enhance patients' quality of life. The drug is expected to be a game-changer as it is affordable, has rapid action, and is safe. A few months ago, my wife Lenny, a non-smoker, received the devastating news of her metastatic lung cancer diagnosis. On top of that, it turns out to be a very rare, incurable variant, ROS1+. ROS1+ lung cancer is an aggressive form of the disease that predominantly affects non-smokers, like my wife. The urgency to find effective treatments and therapies is paramount, and research is the beacon of hope. Despite the challenges my wife faces, she remains steadfast in her determination to fight this disease, not just for herself, but for her 7yo daughter and countless others affected by this rare form of cancer.
