EU Project Manager- Grant Manager (Horizon, H2020, Digital Europe, CBE JU, ESA): My posts are related to #climate #ocean #greentransition #bioplastics #biobasedmaterials #standardization
This is an interesting document with a set of recommendations drafted by European Bioplastics for the implementation of the #Biopolymers #Industrial Action Plan. If we wish to meet the goal of deriving at least 20% of carbon from non-fossil sources by 2030 (!), the implementation of several measures is needed now: harmonization of regulations, incentives for sustainable biomass access and specific financial support for #innovation. And consumers' awareness and a driven demand are strategic to implementing the plan. Have a look! #actionplan #bioplastics #biopolymers #bioeconomy #EUBP
European Bioplastics has released its EU Policy Manifesto with recommendations for actionable measures that should be part of the #EU #Bioeconomy Strategy. 🇪🇺 In the manifesto, EUBP calls for a #Biopolymers #Industrial Action Plan to meet the goal of deriving at least 20% of carbon from non-fossil sources by 2030. This plan should include measures like harmonizing regulations, incentivising sustainable biomass access, enhancing financial support for #innovation, closing infrastructure gaps, and increasing market uptake. 🔄 The manifesto also urges the increase of consumer awareness and promoting the advantages of #bioplastics to drive the demand. 👉 Find out more at https://lnkd.in/ezec-B7H

The use of alternative sources of virgin fossil carbon, including bio-based feedstocks, is crucial in Europe’s journey to reach a net-zero #circulareconomy. ♻ We consider #biobased feedstock, derived from biomass, as an important part of the overall transition towards sustainable carbon for producing polyolefins, together with recycled, and carbon capture polyolefins. 🌍 Today, PCEP calls for the EU to promote the availability and production of sustainably sourced biobased feedstock, which will help enable the carbon footprint reduction of polyolefins. 📉 READ the position paper below:

How will the Austrian Chemical industry contribute to Net-0? There are many things that can be done to achieve this. An important one is definitely to replace the use of fossil carbon as a source material in the production of base-chemicals in domestic production. Biomass 🌲 and recycled plastics 🔄 will be the carbon sources for chemical production in the future while CCU will probably also be used as an important gap-filling technology. The compact study by #CarbonMinds provides a great initial overview. Thanks to Moritz Tiefenthaler and all the people within Carbon Minds, who worked on its development! A target for sustainably grown, bio-based feedstock for polyolefin production and ambitious recycling targets for products (high-quality recylate and low emissions of course). Sounds like aiming for a #circularbioeconomy 😊

Summer break for #biomethane!🌞🌧️ Danish share of #greengasses are not growing. 🇩🇰 June’24, back at the March’23 level at 36%. But it's not a negative signal🤔. It shows that the maturation and development of the biomethane sector is ongoing👍. Early June, the biogas industry proposed to drop the coming 10 BDKK💶 support scheme. In parallel our Minister invited the sector for dialogue on how to progress. It mainly comes from one issue: All expect that a better legal framework for support can be made - increasing the volumes of green gasses for the same amount. #valueformoney As mentioned in previous posts’, Danish production of biomethane #withoutsupport is growing📈! And new technologies for capturing and using #CO2; adding #PtX and #H2 for #emethane production is progressing (and in operation). We clearly see the sector evolving towards a real green #molecule market.

#Denmark has been steadily increasing the share of low-carbon gases in its grid, now reaching an impressive 36%. However, they are currently feeling "stagnated" as they strive to surpass this milestone. In stark contrast, #Germany remains at just 1% of low-carbon gases in their grid. It's clear that Germany needs to significantly ramp up their efforts to catch up with Denmark and other leading nations. #Biomethane #Decarbonisation #Sustainability #GreenTransition

Mission on a Mission.... to extend discussions to replace fossil based fuels, chemicals and materials.....
This Mission will be presented this week at the G20 High Level Dialogue on ""seeking consensus on performance based sustainability assessments and frameworks"". As well in several side events about biomass assessments, Carbon intensity and we organise a session about biomanufacturing and biobased chemicals/materials. Looking forward to fruitfull discussions and improved collaboration with the ultimate goal to realise a non-fossil fuel society. #MissionInnovation #Biorefineries #CEMMI
