🚀 Elliot Swartz, Principal Scientist for Cultivated Meat at The Good Food Institute believes smart manufacturing is the best way for alternative proteins to compete on a bigger scale. 🌱 And he says the sustainability benefits can be huge due to the reduction in land use. “Agricultural sprawl is using so much land and contributing so much carbon through deforestation that if you’re able to have more alternative protein diets, you would shrink the land footprint considerably,” says Elliot. 📰 Find our more from Elliot and others about smart manufacturing in the Q2 2024 edition of Protein Production Technology International! 🔗https://hubs.ly/Q02Cb_5v0 #smartmanufacturing #innovation #alternativeproteins #agriculture #scaling #climatesolutions

🔊⛔ Thinking about joining the biochar value chain? Here's why 2024 is the perfect time to jump in! 💪 1️⃣ Growing demand: The demand for sustainable and carbon-negative solutions is skyrocketing. Biochar, a high-quality form of solid rich carbon, is gaining traction as an eco-friendly soil amendment and carbon sequestration tool. By joining the biochar value chain, you can tap into a market with a promising future.🤞 2️⃣ Environmentally conscious agriculture: As the world becomes more aware of the impact of traditional farming practices on climate change, sustainable agriculture is on the rise. Biochar offers numerous benefits, such as improving soil fertility, water retention, and nutrient availability. As an active player in the biochar value chain, you'll contribute to greener and more sustainable farming practices. 🌾 3️⃣ Diversification opportunities: The biochar value chain is not limited to just producing biochar itself. There are opportunities for innovation and diversification, such as developing biochar-based products or creating carbon offset programs. By exploring these avenues, you can expand your business portfolio and capture additional value.💥 4️⃣ Collaborative networks: The biochar community is a vibrant and collaborative space. Joining the value chain enables you to connect with like-minded individuals, researchers, and organizations. This network offers valuable knowledge sharing, potential partnerships, and access to funding opportunities. 🥰 5️⃣ Positive impact: Perhaps the most rewarding aspect is the positive impact you can make by joining the biochar value chain. By actively participating in carbon sequestration and sustainable agriculture, you'll contribute to mitigating climate change and building a more resilient planet for future generations. -------------------------- So, why wait? Embrace the opportunities of the biochar value chain in 2024 and be part of a sustainable and prosperous future! please follow me if your new, like and comment your points. Currently, there's significant attention on regenerative agriculture as a key solution for establishing a healthier and more sustainable #FoodSystem. 🌱 However, it's essential to recognize that #RegenerativeAgriculture solely addresses the actions of farmers, who don't operate in isolation. 🚜 The production, transportation, processing, packaging, and consumption of food involve intricate interdependencies and relationships. Instead of focusing solely on regenerative agriculture, we should also emphasize regenerative production, distribution, processing, retail, and consumption, understanding how these components work in harmony. 🔄
There is a lot of focus at the moment on regenerative agriculture, which is one great solution to build a healthier more sustainable #FoodSystem. 🌱 However, #RegenerativeAgriculture is focused on what farmers do, and farmers do not produce food in isolation. 🚜 Many complex interdependencies and relationships impact how our food is produced, transported, processed, packaged, and consumed. Rather than simply regenerative agriculture, we should be interested in regenerative production, regenerative distribution, regenerative processing, regenerative retail, and regenerative consumption. And the way they work together. 🔄 When we frame the solution as regenerative ‘agriculture’, we are putting the entire responsibility on farmers. 🌾 This then means the burden of finance, of risk, of education and of transformation is focused at farm level and not shared across the value chain. 🌍 How can we expect adoption at scale if we do not look at this from a #RegenerativeFoodSystems perspective? 🤔 Let’s rethink our whole #FoodIndustry. Let’s create Regenerative Food Systems. #ImprovingFoodTogether 🌱

Fully agree with this post from #eitfood "and farmers do not produce food in isolation. 🚜 Many complex interdependencies and relationships impact how our food is produced, transported, processed, packaged, and consumed." And to improve the farmers and "food" sustainability we need to measure it right? If we do not measure it it would become a mix of marketing, good intentions, and greenwashing. then... www.boostainability.com is our contribution to a better farming, a better food production system, more transparent for the producers and the consumers. Together, all of us involved in the food ecosystem can help to build a better future. EIT Food Instituto de Agricultura Regenerativa Roman Werner
