👩⚕️ 👨⚕️ Healthcare professionals endeavour to meet the language needs of patients to the best of their abilities. However, community pharmacies, despite the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) expecting them to address this issue, currently lack access to interpreters. Research conducted by Jay Patel revealed that pharmacy professionals across various sectors often experience intense emotions, such as frustration, helplessness, and anxiety when communicating with patients facing language barriers. A survey involving 468 pharmacy professionals highlighted significant variations in the quality and accessibility of language services. The majority of respondents (62%) believe that the quality of care is inferior for patients with language barriers. The study concludes that without adequate professional language and translation services, existing health inequalities will exacerbate. https://lnkd.in/edsxuZUs NHS England emphasises that patients should have the ability to access services in a manner that ensures their language and communication requirements do not hinder them from receiving healthcare of the same quality as others. Consequently, pharmacy professionals are expected to make use of the available language services at their disposal. I am working on making sure all pharmacy professionals have access to Written Medicine.

I’m internetally attacked on a simi-regular basis via my Ipad regarding my online posts. They seem to upset some people? ————————————————————————————————— “A man has no ears for that to which experience has given him no access.” - Nietzsche ————————————————————————————————— It’s like I get up in the morning feeling good. Ready for my day. I make a cup of coffee(gourmet stuff). Sit down. Open up my Ipad and check my email. And my head is blasted with stuff like this. Basically people telling me I’m full of s__t. Lol Anyway, I was going to write a response to every paragraph of the critique(if you can call it that). But it would require too many words and overrun the LinkedIn word limits. So I will post it just so you guys can read it. For whatever that’s worth? But if you are writing about things that are outside of what is considered current and right. You will get negative comments and emails on a regular basis. There is an old Turkish proverb that states … “If you tell the truth. Have one foot in the stirrup.” Lol ————————————————————————————————— There is much more at work here that lends itself to the client feeling better, than massaging a soft tissue lump. Basing your outcome only on technique and projected outcomes (eg; agenda driven) certainly makes us seem all kinds of awesome, doesn't it? Oversimplifying the human body and how it responds (eg; CNS) to touch seems to be, collectively, more about keeping us relevant and our clients happy than taking the time to fully understand what is currently being brought to light in pain science research. The truth is much of what we think we are doing, is simply untrue, and also much of what we are doing, is unclear because we have no way of measuring these outcomes - too many variables to produce unbiased, credible findings. To fill-in the gaps with projections and pseudo-sciency terms and notions does nothing to further our vocation, especially for those who want to align themselves with the medical community. ————————————————————————————————— That critique is from a massage therapist by the way.
