China and other Asian nations and communities around the world have welcomed this week the Year of the Snake. The snake's sharp senses and keen awareness represent heightened intuition and adaptability. Often associated with ancient wisdom and healing, the snake carries a potent symbolism of transformation and regeneration, inviting us to embrace change, release old patterns, and tap into our innate healing powers. Especially in this dynamic era of transformation, the skin shedding known to snakes is appreciated as a new impulse. It’s about shedding the confines of thoughts shaped by the recent past, letting go of dogmatic beliefs. The snake year is where that kind of shedding, regeneration, and growth — domestic and geopolitical, communal and institutional — is very much possible. As a former Minister of Health in Libya in 2012, I fully understand the experiences and threats politicians face. I urge the public not to accept this behaviour and to prevent it from becoming normalised. Violence is never a solution to any disagreement; if tolerated, it only leads to the deterioration of our inclusive and progressive social norms, instability and a future full of insecurity for us, at this immediate juncture, and for generations to come.

I absolutely agree. "Any efforts to target, demean or dehumanise anyone [in their workplace] should never be normalised and always called out". Perhaps, you can reflect on how this plays out with our "front line heroes" of An Garda Síochána who are afraid of consequences of doing their jobs. Case in point Dublin 23rd Nov 2023. Similarly, our "front line heroes" working in our hospitals under the Health Service Executive Every worker deserves respect and dignity in their workplace and should not experience fear. Especially, fear of speaking out. As Taoiseach, Government of Ireland Simon Harris you have the power to enforce accountability to institutions/organisations to protect every single worker in Ireland. It is too late for me but there is no way any worker should experience what I went through (including WRC and Labour Court outcomes).
