This year’s 2025 Hawaiʻi Inter-island Midwife Gathering brought together midwives from across Hawai'i for an enriching educational experience. We’re so grateful for the opportunity to learn, connect, and grow together. Mahalo to our hosts: the Hawaiʻi Affiliate of the American College of Nurse Midwives, the Hawaiʻi Homebirth Collective and the Pacific Birth Collective.

I celebrate all midwives around the world. They play important roles nearly in every birth, if not all. Directly or indirectly, they take delivery of every baby. My thumb up to all midwives. With the above analogy in mind, a good writer is like a professional midwife who takes delivery of ideas. As a good midwife, a good writer helps to birth your ideas, clean them properly and give back to you. A good writer defines, refines and develops your ideas. He makes it a world-class thing. That is exactly what I want to help you to do. I would like to help you midwife your idea. I can help you make your dreams of writing a book a reality. Let's connect to get started.

Yesterday, as I sat attending the last Virtual International Day of the Midwife Panel of Discussion, which was organised by the International Confederation of Midwives, hearing that there is a global shortage of midwives once again made me get into serious thinking. This is because Low and Middle Income Countries (LMICs) like Zambia have got a lot of Unemployed Registered Midwives. The global community should open their gates for the unemployed Registered Midwives and even Unemployed Nurses. Imagine, if the world was to work with LMICs to reduce the shortages. LMICs have got Human Capital, which the world can benefit from. Universities from LMICs can partner with High Income Countries to even train Nurses and Midwives to fill this identified gap. Decision makers, we can do this. #drmwambathetrendsetter #aspiretoinspire

Behind every healthy baby is a story. A story of bravery, courage, and care by midwives. Midwives are more than caregivers. They are advocates, healers, and lifelines in life’s most vulnerable moments. Here’s a peek into their world: A midwife in a rural village delivering babies without modern tools or support. Holding a mother’s hand during a crisis, staying calm under intense pressure. Feeling the quiet joy of a baby’s first breath, knowing they made it possible. These aren’t just stories! They show the resilience, compassion, and dedication of midwives everywhere. My Initiative: I’m sharing midwives’ stories to honor their work. From moments of courage to the little wins that make it all worth it. To Midwives: What’s one story that shaped your journey? Share it below or connect with me—I’d love to feature it. Let’s shine a light on these life-saving heroes. It’s time to celebrate their impact. P.S. Who’s ready to help amplify midwives voices?

There are three main types of midwives (names vary state to state but these are the basic categories): 👶🏼 Lay Midwives — these people who’ve just seen/helped at a lot of births but have no licensure or formal training. Most often these deliver in homes. 👶🏼 Professional Midwives — these people have gone through a training program and may be licensed (depending on your state). Most often these deliver in homes or birth centers. 👶🏼 Nurse Midwives (more formally called Certified Nurse Midwives or CNM) — these are nurses who’ve gone on to get a masters sometimes a PhD training to become a midwife. They’re licensed and deliver in birth centers or hospitals, most often. They are actually trained to also assess babies as well. Read more 👉 https://lnkd.in/gygJv5dM
