When I started Broadcast Engineering, I had no clue as to what lay ahead. I went from fixing small issues on my weekend shift to being responsible for multiple facilities and staff. Years later and looking back, I realize I’m still using the same practices and they still keep us on the air. Cheers to the wonderful world of Broadcast Engineering! 1. Stay Ahead in Tech Trends: Embrace continuous learning to stay abreast of the latest technologies. Innovation is key! 2. Team Collaboration: Foster a collaborative environment. Great ideas often emerge from the collective expertise of your team. 3. Prioritize Safety: In the world of engineering, safety comes first. Enforce strict safety protocols to protect both team members and equipment. 4. Proactive Problem Solving: Anticipate issues and develop proactive solutions. A forward-thinking approach minimizes downtime. 5. Regular Equipment Maintenance: Implement a robust maintenance schedule to keep equipment in peak condition. Preventive measures save time and resources. 6. Adaptability: The tech landscape evolves rapidly. Cultivate adaptability to navigate changes effectively. 7. Document Everything: Maintain thorough documentation for processes and configurations. It's invaluable for troubleshooting and knowledge transfer. #ChiefEngineer #BestPractices #EngineeringLeadership https://lnkd.in/gzWYFHVx

Why take chances with venue equipment when you can work with a professional AV team? Hiring an external AV team ensures top-notch equipment and expert technical assistance throughout your event. Don't settle for outdated venue equipment—choose reliability and quality with a third-party AV company.

I will love to share a secret and this is majorly for broadcast engineers but it also cut across all industries.. As a broadcast engineer, one of the most effective strategies for securing and maintaining client relationships is to focus on discussing value rather than immediately jumping to price. This demonstrates your expertise but also helps clients understand the full scope of what you offer. Try this - Listen Actively: Begin by understanding the client’s specific needs and goals for the broadcast. Ask detailed questions about their vision, target audience, and desired outcomes. - Tailor Your Approach:Use this information to tailor your approach and demonstrate how your services align perfectly with their objectives. By focusing on value and walking clients through the entire production process, you can build a strong, trust-based relationship that goes beyond mere pricing. This approach showcases your professionalism, expertise, and commitment to delivering exceptional results. It has worked effectively for me over the years, and I believe it will do the same for you too.

Imagine 1,2 million kilometers: you leave earth, you reach the moon just to realize that you forgot your wallet. You go back to earth, take your wallet and off you go to the moon again. This is what 1,2 million km is... Following today's announcement from GM, this is also the number of kilometers you can drive with #Supercruise in North America! Super Cruise is the industry’s first true hands-free advanced driver assistance system (ADAS). It allows customers to drive hand-free on compatible, mapped roads. When Super Cruise is engaged, the vehicle’s precision LiDAR map data, real-time cameras, radars and GPS keep the vehicle traveling along the lane path for a hands-free driving experience. These systems work together through “sensor fusion” to create a sensory field around the vehicle that assists in keeping it centered in the lane while elevating the driver’s comfort and convenience. Super Cruise accelerates or brakes the vehicle to maintain a selected following gap from a vehicle ahead, steers to maintain lane position, and on select models when offered, can perform both driver and system-initiated lane changes to pass slower traffic and to move from a lane that may be ending, while monitoring the driver’s head position and/or eyes in relation to the road to help ensure driver attention. The driver attention system is key to our safe deployment philosophy. Over 80% of surveyed owners with Super Cruise have said it makes driving more relaxing, and it’s the second most important reason for choosing a vehicle. New or enhanced features and capabilities since Super Cruise’s launch include, Lane Change on Demand, Automatic Lane Change, Enhanced Navigation, Industry-First, and only, Hands-Free Trailering, Collaborative Steering, Enhanced Driver Requested Offset, Improved Curve Handling... Perhaps the most important: more than 257 million kilometers have been driven accident-free with Super Cruise.
Our Senior Communications Manager Aimee has had plenty of experience driving with Super Cruise. She's here to share some of her reasons why she loves hands-free driving. . . . Always pay attention while driving and when using Super Cruise. Do not use a handheld device. Requires active Super Cruise plan or trial. Terms apply. Visit https://lnkd.in/e7nzYzrc for compatible roads and full details.

Innovative Sports & Entertainment Media Production Director | Technical Director | Vision Mixer | Advisor Opinions & observations expressed are mine alone
TDious Experiences volume II: The Remote Broadcast Production Technical Director [Mobile Unit Setup Part 2c: Keyer Assignments & Keyer Priority] The default Keyer Priority on every popular switcher is Keyer 1 on top of 2 which is on top of 3 and so on. Remember to set your Keyer priorities as well as your transition rates for them before you begin storing EMEMS. My Effect 000 on all of my M/Es has a Source Hold (so that recalling this effect won’t take me to another source) but it does clear all of that M/Es keyers, sets them to their base assignments and appropriately layers the stack based on my needs for that show. For example, my PGM level Keyers may have Keyer 1 (Image Store 1 for Network branding) at the highest priority, followed by Keyer 2 (SpotBox A for Transitions) but then Keyer 6 may be THIRD in the stack for the Telestrator. The reason is because I generally assign a GPI to clear the Tele on my Replay Out move. Having the Tele UNDER the SpotBox transition allows that clear to happen seamlessly … unless, of course, I have a certain analyst we have lovingly nicknamed “Picasso” for his ability to paint the most amazing abstract art using this 1970s technology and who may just keep on drawing long after my GPI has cleared the screen. OK! I think that’s quite a lot to absorb for now. If there are questions or topics YOU would like to see covered here, shoot me a line. I wouldn’t have had the good fortune to be working the shows I work today without the kindness of so many early in my career and I’m here to pay it backwards AND forwards for anyone interested! Until next time Happy Switching!
