Over the last 75 years in Pakistan, the head of state and other important positions have always been given to selected families and individuals. It's time for the middle class to unite and move beyond these divisions. The elite class is typically a minority but often seeks to rule society in any country. In developed democratic societies, they are usually restricted by high moral and ethical values and give equal chances to other classes. However, in Islamic countries, the situation is often the opposite, and this class still controls society through kingdoms and dictatorships. Pakistan is one of those countries where the whole nation is divided on sectarian, ethnic, and religious grounds. Despite being aware of this, we continue to defy it and have been divided into groups and clans for the past 75 years. It's time to move beyond politics, sects, and clans and work towards a united and inclusive society.

Prevailing system of democracy i.e. (a) one man, one vote and (b) party based system (which is neither as per Shariah rules or can offer socioeconomic justice) cannot give political or economic stability. The unequal distribution of wealth, rising inflation, increasing unemployment, high interest rates, low domestic production, regular imports of consumer & capital goods cannot help the economy to get better. Just like there was change in the economic system in early 1970s from capitalism to 'near socialism'. Similarly, we have to change it from capitalism to "real" Islamic economy (and not like a hoax Islamic banking system, which has accepted forbidden factor Riba/Kibor/interest in their scheme of things). Radical measures are required; the status quo will keep pulling us down!

Federation is another strategic trap for Nepal. Asian models of democracy is better than the troubled European models. European models was upheld due to the two wars and global priorities. Ethnic nationalism and nationalities together with economic centralism very much differ to what Nepal went through and Nepal geographic positioning. Few Nepali politicians is more inclined to European practices. It is due to support for the conflict Maoists started but never ended by some European nations. Maoists choice for raising arms against a democratic system was a strategic miscalculation converting into strategic setback. There is no analogy to the argument. It will not work nor help democratic practices in Nepal. Effective local bodies functions and their decisions for delivery is what Nepal needs and it is happening. Japanese model is an excellent example for Nepal, an Asian model and a vibrant democracy

South Africa has 30 Cabinet ministers which is larger than that of Germany (17), Japan (20), the UK (24) and the US (26). In developing countries which made giant economic leapfrogs in the post-Second World War period, either from mass poverty, such as Singapore, or civil war, such as South Korea or defeat in war such as Japan, or from the devastation of communism, such as Poland had relatively small Cabinets, generally ranging from 9 to 25 people, during their economic miracle periods. Singapore’s first post-colonial Cabinet had nine members, both Japan and South Korea during the peak of their rapid economic growth phases had maximum 20 member Cabinets. Taiwan has 16 Cabinet members. Botswana’s first post-independence leader Seretse Khama had a Cabinet of eight members. Botswana is one of a handful of African countries not to plunge into a failed state, civil war, economic meltdown or corruption epidemic, since Liberia became the first African country to become independent 177 years ago. Successful post-Second World War developing country governments, such as Singapore, Taiwan and South Korea concentrated on getting quality into Cabinets, rather than on quantity, getting the best talent available in their countries to be appointed to executives. These successful countries often also tried within reason to appoint individuals with competencies which match the government departments they oversee.  As South African President Cyril Ramaphosa cobbles together a new Government of National of Unity, it is clear that the country's Cabinet needs to be right-sized, not further enlarged.
