Working in the Employment, Skills, Health, and Communities directorate at West Midlands Combined Authority
let's face it, not everyone adds 'read new strategy' to their to-do list, and it's even rarer that it would make it into anyone's bedtime reading top ten. Not all strategies are a tough read though. The approaches and proposals set out in the WMCA's Employment and Skills Strategy pave the way for an exciting next couple of years as we work closely with our stakeholders to create a more inclusive and resilient economy, building a better connected, more prosperous, fairer. greener and healthier West Midlands. https://lnkd.in/eJuv8BwW

This year, National Small Business Week takes place April 28 - May 4th. The impact of small businesses on the U.S. job market is more significant than often perceived. Although a majority of small businesses, over 80%, operate without any staff, these entities still employ a total of 61.6 million people. This figure represents 45.9% of the entire U.S. workforce, a remarkable statistic especially when considering that fewer than 20% of small businesses have any employees. This data not only shows the importance of small enterprises in job creation but also their role in sustaining the economy. It’s clear that the growth of small businesses is integral to the nation’s employment health and overall economic success. #SBDCDaytona #Smallbusinessweek

Regeneration Team Leader | RTPI National & West Midlands Young Planner of 2023 | RTPI WM Team of 2024 | RTPI National Authority of 2014 🏆
"The report calls on the next Government to set out the UK’s national strategy, underpinned by five or six key national strategic priorities, at the start of a new Parliament. This should be monitored and updated by the National Situation Centre and be subject to an annual report to Parliament. The Cabinet Office itself should be slimmed down to enable it to focus on these strategic priorities, with foresight analysis clearly connected to decision-making....." 👀 I mean....this is exactly what I've been saying about the need for a future orientated, strategic national vision/masterplan underpinned by Strategic Foresight, Futures Literacy and a collective, envisioned narrative we all align towards....some call it divination, some call it imagination, others call it common sense and Civil Service Reform to create a cross-cutting, vision led transformation that brings a siloed workforce into a collective ambitious entity... https://lnkd.in/e2V-sFEs
