Thank you to the more than 100 people who attended our in-person Technical Steering Committee, MOSIS 2.0 and Hub Operations meetings held at the USC Information Sciences Institute on May 15 and 16! “The meetings went very well,” Steve Crago, DREAMS director, said. “They brought together the institutions of our hub in person to plan our work over the next several months. INSTAND attended the 2024 EQALM Symposium and General Assembly in Vienna, Austria from 16-18 October. Prof. Dr. med. Michael Spannagl, INSTAND e.V. Board of Directors: Chairman of the Board, represented INSTAND with the following presentation topic: Clinical Impact of EQA. Key Points: ◾ Laboratory results have an important impact on the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patients but also the prevention of disease ◾ EQA allows for the comparison of available test systems and for the comparison of laboratories in respective ring trials ◾ EQA may allow for effectiveness perspective in the comparative assessment of laboratory test systems ◾ Cross-sectional and longitudinal comparability of lab values is of utmost importance for national and global healthcare structures ◾ Relevant consensus documents and guidelines rely on direct comparability of laboratory results obtained in different clinical situations, also for POCT results EQALM is an umbrella organization for European EQA organizers in laboratory medicine. 👩🔬 👨🔬 We have two new Co-champions for OARS Outcome 1, Dr Carla Berghoff and Dr Nico Lange, who have joined forces to lead and grow working group 1 to ensure the global science community is equipped to provide the high-quality ocean acidification data needed. 📈 They will be focusing on enabling the scientific community to provide ocean acidification data and evidence of known quality via capacity development, mentoring of early career researchers, facilitating data sharing, growing regional collaborations, and increased communication through meetings and workshops, allowing for a holistic analysis considering all stakeholder perspectives.
