#AlstonAccomplished The Columbus Castings project transformed an old iron foundry in Columbus, Ohio, into three new speculative buildings, overcoming extensive challenges like contaminated soil, utility replacements, and demolition. Through innovative problem-solving and collaboration, the project was completed ahead of schedule, contributing to the city's revitalization and economic growth. World’s “most powerful shear” unveiled in Australia Liberty Industrial has unveiled the latest addition to its construction equipment fleet, revealing the monstrous Fortress FS-245R shear at Australia’s largest demolition project, in Gove, Northern Territory. The Fortress FS-245R shear was designed and built by manufacturer Shearcore, which client Liberty Industrial had tasked with designing a shear “more powerful than anything on the market, but light enough to be mounted at 20-metre pin height on its fleet of 200-t high reach excavators”. A second-generation model, the FS-245R was manufacturer by Shearcore. It weighs 23 tonnes – three tonnes less than comparable models on the market – and can cut heavy infrastructure steel in an average of just one cut, rather than the three cuts of its predecessor model. Described as a “true team effort”, the development of shear is the result of three years’ hard work and collaboration between Liberty Industrial. Simon Gill, Director of Liberty Industrial, said: “We wanted to deliver a solution that would increase efficiency and reduce risk across our portfolio of global closure projects. “This shear enables us to significantly reduce the potential exposure times of our personnel while also improving overall efficiency in demolition and scrap processing.” The FS-245R is currently being used on Liberty Industrial’s Gove Refinery Demolition Project. Liberty Industrial said: “Delivering more piercing force than any shear on the market at a lighter weight, the shear, mounted at 20m pin height on one of Liberty’s 200t high reach excavators, reduces the risk profile by allowing operators to mechanically demolish large heavy steel structures that would otherwise require high risk induce collapse methods or large cranes to dismantle. “At ground level it reduces the need for hand processing of thick steel plate and heavy beams and columns. The FS245R plays a pivotal role in removing personnel from the work front, maximising mechanical methods, and ultimately making the demolition environment safer.” For more information on the Construction, Mining Equipment and Allied Industries, please reach us at www.equipmenttimes.in Ramamurthy Mayavan Philip Varghese Editor In Chief- EQUIPMENT TIMES #excavators #constructionmachinery #infrastructure #contractor #constructionequipment #construction #manufacturing #machine #equipment

STRUCTURAL DESIGN ENGINEER seismic design, post-tension design, retrofitting, strengthening of concrete structures, value engineering
In steel-to-concrete anchorage, anchors should be as stiff as possible in the serviceability state in order to prevent loosening of the fixture. On the other hand, visible displacement of the anchor in the limit state is desirable so that (a) imminent failure (overload) of the anchor can be recognized and (b), in the case of anchor groups, load redistribution to less highly stressed anchors in the group can occur. 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐩𝐞𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧! We approach the summer months with a renewed sense of purpose and motivation. The rising temperatures and sunlight have pushed through, and it is easy to feel a greater appreciation for the positive impact the construction industry brings. While it goes without saying that the industry is undergoing a period of change, it seems as though this is cause for optimism, rather than pessimism. The construction industry is, above all else, a resilient one. Its cyclical nature is the only real constant and despite the problems we face, it is important to remember that we have beaten them before and will beat them again. From SMART building materials to the benefits of recycled glass, the level of innovation and forward-thinking is relentless. Alongside that, we look at the ways EVs can be repurposed to provide a more circular economy and share glimpses of some truly groundbreaking construction plans that go further than anything we have seen on earth. We are delighted to bring stories from across the industry, sharing successes and inspiration in equal measures. The construction industry is one that needs to be looked at on a macro level. Its peaks and troughs are omnipresent. We are bringing you something a little more detailed, however. The stories of the people within the industry.
